Foreman's Tool Belt and other disappointments
I have just started playing TFTFT because I have been waiting for the DLC to be fully finished. Very excited to see all the new regions. Enjoying the exploration a lot. But...

How is it possible to introduce such underwhelming new rewards into this beautiful game? It's like zero thought was put into the new accessories. Items like Foreman's Tool Belt and Security Chief's Rifle Holster are baffling my mind. Not only do they give very tiny benefits compared to older Accessories that have been in the game for many years, but they even HARM me when I can't equip them - which is most of the time - because they have their own weight that slows me down. Foreman's Tool Belt especially makes zero sense to me. I had to look up what it does because I couldn't believe that it could only have such a small effect. Why does it reduce the weight of only the 3 heaviest tools when we can clearly see that the belt itself has room for at least 5 tools? I don't get it.

These accessories should be permanent enhancements or collectibles like the Tactical Backpack. I think big buffs would be well deserved after undergoing such a long and difficult journey to obtain these rewards.

I don't want to be too negative because I think you have created a fantastic game overall, but these accessories should not be in the game like this. Nobody should let out a sigh of disappointment when picking up something new. It should be exciting and impressive instead. Please consider improving these items and don't be scared to give us amazing rewards.

I always use Foreman's Tool belt on Interloper on a trip to BI when I need to repair my tools on a Milling machine, as there's no Whetstones in the world anymore. It allows for ~2.5 kg extra weight which is pretty significant.

Rifle holster is almost purely cosmetical but on gun modes you're not in a dire threat of falling to cold damage so might as well run around with it, if you're carrying a rifle.

agreed, should be permanent enhancements. also More items should be concidering as tools like pots, skillets, lantern, i'm on a very late well established interloper, the only real "tool" i'm always carrying is the cougar knife. and the only benefits of finishing all tales is technical balaclava (end of tale 1) and tactical gloves (begining tale3) , witch both are very slight improvement.

I guess it's nice to be able to carry 2.5 kg extra weight in your situation, but even in that ideal circumstance it's only half as good as previous accessories. I wasn't just expecting similar items to the Moose-Hide Satchel. I was hoping for even much more amazing options or possible combinations. How great would it have been to be able to attach a small quiver or something similar directly to the Moose-Hide Satchel? An item like that I would cherish with a passion! Such a missed opportunity.

Thinking back to my first discovery of the Tactical Backpack - I almost jumped for joy! I wanted another one of those reactions I guess.
There have been other discussions where people have pointed out the absurdity of having two accessory slots, to share for accessories that are worn on your feet, waist, shoulders, cross body, head. But suspect it is balance and game mechanics 'logic'.

I haven't tested it, but do the wood working tools count as tool belt tools?
2 more accessory slots would be great. There are too many accessories rendered useless because you never equip them.

I appreciate accessories like Improvised Insulation or Wool Ear Wrap because they function like other clothing items. You equip and maintain them for warmth and protection. That just works. It starts to get annoying when it's necessary to swap items all the time.

Most accessories should simply be permanent bonuses. It makes no sense that I have to remove Crampons from my boots in order to be able to hang a Moose-Hide Satchel over my shoulder. When you find Crampons, they should automatically provide their bonus when climbing or walking across thin ice without having to swap them in every time.

They already did it perfectly with the Tactical Backpack. It was an elegant and simple solution that made everyone happy. I wonder why they didn't think to continue down that road.

I wrote up a similar post with numbers break down and the TL;DR is that unless you stack the deck in the favor of using the new items, (carry three heavy hammers and barb's rifle while using both the toolbelt and the holster) you can't make the weight reduction exceed the bonus carry weight from the moose bag. And even when you do, it is only by using both slots AND it only beats it by about .2KG.

Meanwhile, the clothing items aren't all that good besides the balaclava. The gloves are are only stronger in wind resistance but also lose a half degree of normal warmth over the gauntlets/ rabbit mitts. And they need leather to repair...

The jacket is even worse due to the mediocre stats, high decay rate and being at the end of the hardest and coldest region of the game. Oh and it doesn't spawn on loper apparently...
Love the game but yes, more accessory slots would be cool. :steamhappy:
I mean, you have to consider the necessity of each item. Some of those accessories you don't need constantly. Moose-hide satchel is a constant for me. Ear wraps, crampons, rifle holster, and tool belt are situational. Ear wraps are important when every degree of temp is important, once you're stacked on gear though, they can be put aside. Crampons, critical for climbing and beach combing, potentially important for cross-country travel, not needed on roads or around base. Rifle holster, great if you're just going out hunting or travelling where you don't need crampons. Tool belt, great if you're going out gathering firewood in bulk or moving hammers.

Would it be nice to use all the things all the time? Sure. Is it needed though? Not really. Trade-offs. They're not in the same category as the technical backpack. In that case, you are literally throwing away your old backpack for a better one.
We do need more accessory slots. It made sense when there were just a few possible accessory items but they have grown significantly, particularly under the DLC, and it is now quite outdated to only have two slots. The new slots could even be tied to owning the DLC, as many of the new accessories are from the new content.

I basically just equip the moosehide satchel and the ear wraps. I carry around crampons for climbing and beachcombing. I don't bother carrying around the other accessories or ever using them, which is sad as I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of the purpose of the DLC. It's not worth it to carry around items I will rarely use, as I play in quite a nomadic way and it doesn't make sense to carry around so much dead weight.

I just thought of this too: With the new bunker rifle, you can now carry a rifle holster level weight reduced rifle with you at all times, without needing the item. Which just further invalidates the holster...
