How to Progress Past Episode 2 - Wintermute

Spoiler warning I guess if you haven't played through Episode 2 yet in Wintermute.

I've completed everything up until trying to get into the dam at night while the Aurora is active, but it's been more than a week in game and there has been no aurora. I'm running out of bullets for hunting but also patience. I am missing something on how to activate the aurora or is it really just an RNG thing? Can saving before night and reloading the save effect the night's outcome differently?

How are you resting...personally If I am needing an Aurora, I try and mess with my body clock so Im awake during the night hours...OR...sleep in 3 hour increments......might pay also to move away from the dam to more open space and camp out and run to the Dam when it strikes...
I dont see any pattern to the Aurora, but doing what I said above seems to have an effect...of course the aurora happens when Im not expecting too...

then of course its just a waiting game? Good luck

It's RNG. It might be the first night you the mission activates, it might be a few in-game weeks. Make sure you really have completed everything (never hurts to triple check). Yes, reloading before nightfall can result in an aurora being triggered if it wasn't the first time around - at least, in survival. I am assuming it's the same in story mode.

So I’ve tried a couple ways, both staying up all day into the night and then also sleeping in 1-2 increments. Tried sleeping in a bag in front of the elevator, or by methuselah and his fire.

Guess I just need to keep at it and hope it triggers soon. Just kind of a bummer since I was loving the game and riding a high after the bear mission and then this just really killed all momentum.

I HAD SAME PROBLEM
The fix is wait until its end of a day and don't sleep or wait just naturally wait for it to go dark and aurora appears I spent like 2 hours skipping time to night and no aurora appeared and you have just to wait
