[Spoilers] Can't reach the end of Wintermute episode 4

Hello there, i'm having a bit of trouble with the end of this episode. After the explosion and de fire I managed to find the hardcase and make my escape. At some point i'm in the yard and i rush to the steam vents. So far, so good.

But once i'm in the stairs i always get caught by Mathis and his gang. No matter how fast i speed run this part i can never get away.
I saw on youtube that some people have a cutscene where Mackenzie get a chair to lock the door when entering the tunnels. The cutscene never triggered on my end. Is my save broken ? Do i need to get better at running down the stairs ? Am i missing somehting else ?

Any helpful insight is welcome, i really want to reach the end of that episode. Thanks

Uh I think youre going the wrong way. After you get the hardcase you go straight out the office and down the hall way to the stairs then run up them and open the door to the roof at which point it should play the chair cutscene. Its possible that after you got off the phone with Jace you waited too long and so Mathis is catching you on the stairs. Use Sprint and hold shift down.

In the phone call Jace says go to the fire escape. That might be why youre not getting the scene. Youre going down stairs and not up and youre going down stairs then into the yard dont do that. When you do go up the stairs to the roof and it plays the cutscene make your way across the metal bridges that lead across the roof till you come to an area with a little broken bar area on the side of the walkway and you jump down from it. Itll play a small cutscene If memory serves of you getting down from there. Then make your way to the outer walls of the prison where the breaks in the wall are at I want tell you where to go from there youll figure it out. You might get shot a few times before you do but you will figure it out eventually.

Ohhh wait wait... You are already in the Steam tunnels... and getting caught on the stairs in the steam tunnels?

It might be because you didnt go to the fire escape on the roof and so the game thinks you are caught but spawns mathis on you in the tunnels instead of the office area. Try using the fire escape and then go to the steam tunnels and see if it changes anything.

One can try reloading the game in its entirety then loading the save game because that might clear some glitch, but is by no means certain.

Seems likely that somewhere between picking up Astrid's case and getting to the steam tunnels something happened that derailed the game script. The only way around that would be to bring up a save from before that and play through. At worse, it might even be necessary to go as far back as before Will returned to the Prison with the detonators and play through. Be careful about taking "shortcuts" or skipping dialog.

Went and done that. Replayed the entire "prison fire" sequence from scratch and it cleared away the glitch.
Don't remember having any shortcut and i think i did all dialogues. (is there any way to skip them anyway ?)

Don't sweat it i was mainly tired, a little sick and with a whole lot of problems on my mind. A good night sleep and some advice was exactly what i needed and what i got. In the end i was able to get past it and i'm not disapointed or whatever.
It's a nice story and i like playing your game.
