Mack's inventory from episode 2 to episode 4

I had Mack kitted out with deer pants, rabbit mittens, basically the best I could find or craft at the end of episode 2 (after the episode 4 update). Then I play through episode 3. but when I get control of Mack when he finally gets his hands free I look at my clothes and everything is gone. I only have the original clothes he crashed in not including his jacket. I get why the jacket is gone, but why let me do all that work when nothing transferred to episode 4 not even my climbing socks? I am so disappointed. All that work to make sure he would at least have something better than what he crashed in at the beginning of episode 4 and I am left with nothing. Hinterland wanted us to start off on our back foot why couldn't they just take away everything in certain clothing slots instead of taking away everything we worked for two episodes to build up?

Yeah, it is surprising that Mathis's goons bothered to steal my Climbing Socks. Sure, those socks are great, but stealing socks? Seriously?

Even more surprising is that the criminals bothered to go all the way back to Grey Mother's (how? the climbing rope is gone...) to fetch Mackenzie's Boots, which I left there when she gave me the Mountaineering Boots.

I mean, I kinda get it: The criminals are freezing, too. (They even stole my windbreaker when I returned to the prison and refused to give it back when they sent me out into the cold!) But stealing the socks and fetching Mackenzie's old clothes from Milton is I think going a bridge too far.
