Your inventory does carry over from Episode 1 into Episode 2, but Story Mode is set up to make sure you will be able to find everything you need to complete all quests. So you don't need to have anything when you start Episode 2 if you want to explore and loot, and have a little more challenge.
Episode 3 you are playing Astrid, so your inventory from Episodes 1 & 2 will not matter- you start with nothing, just like you do in the first episode. In Episode 4, you are a captive of the prison escapees, it seems. So you likely will not have any inventory as Will again, anyway. You end Episode 2 with nothing, you will most likely have nothing at the start of Episode 4.
The structure and some mechanics were changed greatly since the first release of Story Mode and the Redux re-release- the first 2 episodes were completely re-done. So, it might be good to start over, if you want to have continuity in the story and how things work with dialogues and mechanics, but that's up to you.
Of course... I bet the actions you take at the Ep 1 farmhouse will come back soon
I wonder what the canonical outcome of that is for those who don't replay?
I am really curious about the female voice on the phone in the Ep. 4 trailer video. Sure sounds like Molly, doesn't it? Which makes me wonder more about what she was up to in Ep. 3, and who she is sided with...
I've thought about that too, but I think I've talked myself out of that particular outcome. I think it depends on how much time has passed between Ep 2/3 and 4. We definitely need her to come back at some point -- she has more to contribute for sure!
...and I'm done hijacking OPs thread with speculation
6 days...
The loot is still plentiful in Stalker Survival Mode. I don;t enjoy interloper that much. So I play with zero Feats, and I set my own rules. It might be "I will not pick up food below 50% condition." or "I will not pick up a second knife or hatchet or revolver or...", or "I will only wear a single layer of clothing, no 2 hats/socks/pants/*whatever*...". I still have access to top tier clothing and tools, but I self-limit what I can carry or use. Many games can be played this way, not just TLD. It's just we often fall into the trap of "I have to use everything because it is there".
If you want permadeath in Story Mode, never load a previous save. Delete them all and start over if you die.
It's like playing an aRPG with a no-class build- no class specific gear, weapons, buffs, or skills to use. And just like TLD- doing that in Titan Quest (any version) or Grim Dawn- it opens up all sorts of new ways to die, lol.
I agree that the speech mannerisms are different - but sometimes that's known as 'talent'
wahahaha this is a beautiful theory
