Was all jacked up on coffee 100% of the time
And I rather enjoyed Episode 3 myself. Or I wouldn't have played it through twice on XBox One , before starting my third playthrough here on Steam. Though I am taking my time with it, and getting some Survival Mode time in, thinking of new things to try in Story Mode, when I decide to finish it up again here.
But, it isn't for everyone. Sorry you did not enjoy it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm sure Hinterland will read them after they get back from Holiday Break in January. Maybe. Since you posted this in General Discussions instead of in the dedicated Wintermute subforum, where it belongs. Likely to get buried deeply here in General Discussion, before they are back.
Yeah I never needed to leave a Cowichan sweater behind because I already had two until I played episode three on 'hard mode'. It was fun though.
However, I found bringing the survivors back to the base was a boring chore. The only one that was interesting was the first one (I think her name was Gwen?). There was also so much ammo and other supplies lying around that the game didn't feel very challenging, even on the hardest difficulty.
All in all, I enjoyed the third episode in spite of a few complaints.
bingo
I'm not sure how anyone can consider that "fun" and after the first one I couldn't believe I had to pick up 3 more.
Episode 4 is much worst. That seems to be the episode where Hinterland trolls all survival game players as much as possible. And the script... I'd rather think that they have no writers and it's just someone's ramblings, pissed off at life.
SPOILER WARNING AHEAD
Episode 3 is basically a shooter and fetch quest for most of it, I swear more wolves were killed than in previous episodes, what happened to fighting to defend yourself rather than going all Rambo on these wolves(which shouldn't be so hyperaggressive to people so commonly. Though the story is the decent bit of that episode, just needs less shooting...
I understand thats what hinderland wants as a design choice, though timberwolves are a joke...
They lack self preservation like the normal wolves and act like generic shooter enemies where they will try to kill you at the expense of themselves).
The goal should be to try and scare them away but the episode will give you enough ammo to encourage you to shoot them instead of as a last resort incase they are close to killing you.
I know you don't have to technically shoot them but whats easier? Shooting them with a firearm or having to risk the possibility of getting killed by trying to use flares? Most people tend to take the path of least resistance.
Episode 4 has a really bad story, they should do a redux for that like with episode 1 & 2(which did an improvement overall for both episodes), the prisoners and the other characters are the dumbest people alive.
1. Sending Makenzie to do their work, like at the medical centre with too many wolves despite having at least 4 or 5 rifles with ammo to take them out
2. Too many plot conveniences and story tropes and even some cliches
An example is how Makenzie refuses to kill these prisoners because I guess he's the generic good guy? Even though they have massacred the prison after the power goes out and are holding a hostage
Another one is Jace somehow hacking into the prison system magically to lock down and then the explosives blow up?
Heres a previous comment I made a while back summarising Episode 4 plot faults, was made a while ago so sorry if it seems less organised than my above text and being a bit outdated
