Episode3 is so bad
How did you make such great Ep 1 & 2 and then took more than 1 year to pull out this abomination you call Ep 3?
Did anyone ested this stuff? How do you come up with the most boring, slow, aggravating mandatory quest in chapter 2 and then decide to triple the pain in chapter 3?
Not holding my breath for Ep 4...

What didn't you like about Episode 3? The rescue of survivors?

Have to disagree, I thought it was really fun. The new mechanics and changes to existing maps were good additions.

Episode 3 was fantastic, my only gripe was how easy it was, even on hardened.

Was all jacked up on coffee 100% of the time

Episode 3 was great! What're ya talking about? I agree with McBoomBoom about how easy it was though. By the end of Episode 3 I had I think 12 MREs and enough food to feed the town over on top of that several times over, but heck! It was fun! Going through the abandoned mine was a lot of fun too I thought. The timber wolves... now those were an amazing and painful addition! But really, the first true animal challenge to the game (aside moose... now THOSE guys pack a punch!)

It actually took less than a year for Episode 3 to release, after the reworked Redux Episodes 1 & 2 came out in December, 2018. I played the original Episodes (1 & 2) once, and the Redux Episodes 1 & 2 five times each. Always looking for ways to cut my time, or look for new things I may have missed the previous times.

And I rather enjoyed Episode 3 myself. Or I wouldn't have played it through twice on XBox One , before starting my third playthrough here on Steam. Though I am taking my time with it, and getting some Survival Mode time in, thinking of new things to try in Story Mode, when I decide to finish it up again here.

But, it isn't for everyone. Sorry you did not enjoy it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm sure Hinterland will read them after they get back from Holiday Break in January. Maybe. Since you posted this in General Discussions instead of in the dedicated Wintermute subforum, where it belongs. Likely to get buried deeply here in General Discussion, before they are back.

Yeah I never needed to leave a Cowichan sweater behind because I already had two until I played episode three on 'hard mode'. It was fun though.

I enjoyed three more than one or two. I enjoyed three enough that I replayed one and two and, well, I still like three best. And, I still like Survival mode more than the episodes.

I feel like episode three was something of a mixed bag. I enjoyed the story in general and feel like they introduced some memorable characters like the priest and Molly, while also establishing Astrid's backstory and personality a bit more. I also liked many of the side quests, like the one where you see the immortal deer and where you find "sasquatch".

However, I found bringing the survivors back to the base was a boring chore. The only one that was interesting was the first one (I think her name was Gwen?). There was also so much ammo and other supplies lying around that the game didn't feel very challenging, even on the hardest difficulty.

All in all, I enjoyed the third episode in spite of a few complaints.

bingo

I'm not sure how anyone can consider that "fun" and after the first one I couldn't believe I had to pick up 3 more.

Come on...you have a female psycho in this one! What's not to like about that?

Can't even agree or disagree. Because i can't stand the tedious deal with the bear and the spear. what was wrong with the rifle. The vaunted "authored story" goes totally sideways. BTW, what story isn't authored?

I could tear my hair out, when reading: 16000 calories to fetch. I don't even have a damn rifle, just a gun! Everything else is rather easy, but this fetching quest completely destroys my fun with episode 3. I'm constantly hungry and I have to deliver way too much to be even remotely fair. I can't believe that people are simply ignoring this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and say that it's even the best chapter yet. It is slow, it is painful, it is suffering. Chapter 2 was the best for me. Chapter three is simply frustrating and not really fun to spend my time with to be very honest.

Episode 3 is just a bunch of fetch quests taken out from an MMO coupled with a lousy script on an island which suffers a blizzard every 2 days... It makes zero sense.

Episode 4 is much worst. That seems to be the episode where Hinterland trolls all survival game players as much as possible. And the script... I'd rather think that they have no writers and it's just someone's ramblings, pissed off at life.

Yeah episode 3 and 4 are pretty bad

SPOILER WARNING AHEAD

Episode 3 is basically a shooter and fetch quest for most of it, I swear more wolves were killed than in previous episodes, what happened to fighting to defend yourself rather than going all Rambo on these wolves(which shouldn't be so hyperaggressive to people so commonly. Though the story is the decent bit of that episode, just needs less shooting...

I understand thats what hinderland wants as a design choice, though timberwolves are a joke...

They lack self preservation like the normal wolves and act like generic shooter enemies where they will try to kill you at the expense of themselves).

The goal should be to try and scare them away but the episode will give you enough ammo to encourage you to shoot them instead of as a last resort incase they are close to killing you.

I know you don't have to technically shoot them but whats easier? Shooting them with a firearm or having to risk the possibility of getting killed by trying to use flares? Most people tend to take the path of least resistance.

Episode 4 has a really bad story, they should do a redux for that like with episode 1 & 2(which did an improvement overall for both episodes), the prisoners and the other characters are the dumbest people alive.

1. Sending Makenzie to do their work, like at the medical centre with too many wolves despite having at least 4 or 5 rifles with ammo to take them out

2. Too many plot conveniences and story tropes and even some cliches
An example is how Makenzie refuses to kill these prisoners because I guess he's the generic good guy? Even though they have massacred the prison after the power goes out and are holding a hostage
Another one is Jace somehow hacking into the prison system magically to lock down and then the explosives blow up?

Heres a previous comment I made a while back summarising Episode 4 plot faults, was made a while ago so sorry if it seems less organised than my above text and being a bit outdated

Though I didn't personally have an issue with the puzzles(except for the steam pipes) theres a clear issue that some people have experienced as it probably isn't obvious to some people than to others
3. Other areas like the wolf moral system, side quests and lack of new features

There are probably other issues that people had with the episode that I didn't list here but overall, personally episode 4 could be improved on and it would probably top out the rest of the episodes, and OP calling people trolls for criticising the episode is just silly.

i love the timberwolves, personally. Normal wolves are way to easy to deal with as all you need is a torch, not be over encumbered, no bleeding, or sprains, and you can walk through packs of wolves with 100% immunity. You dont even need to use the "drop the torch and aim" cheese, just walk right up to them, they will flee
