Yeah this is some serious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ decisionmaking. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to be able to play a single-player game on my own terms, saving and quitting at my convinience. It doesn't make the game harder, just more annoying and I'm reluctant to actually continue the story because of this feature. Survival mode saving is fine, this is just too obnoxious for me.
In the story mode, you can save whenever you want to. There is a quick save feature (F5).
or set the autosave timer to 5min or as desired
