'What One Man Can Do'; Episode 2 REDUX help?

I've retrieved the spear from the Bear's cave. What now? I cannot seem to find an exit anywhere and I don't seem able to kill the Bear with the spear either, despite piercing him with the thing around about 10 times.

Is the bear supposed to appear right after you pick up the spear? Nothing happens for me. The only exit seems to be a tunnel that ends in a ledge.

The map should have highlighted the garage in Railroad, it basicaly tells you to go repair it at the forge (there is a new forge there)

I'm in the cave, in the small alcove directly opposite the entrance, and need to make some sort of "dash" for the spear (or perhaps one more hiding space near it), but I don't know how to get around the bear there. And it's quite frustrating that it takes 5 minutes to get here whenever the bear kills me :-( A checkpoint here would be really useful...

...just wait until you get the spear, then begins the real frustraiting part, as OP said.

That part is easy once you figured it out. The spear isn't in the starting area. Stay crouched and head down for the river. Then squeeze into the opening it flows into.

You misunderstand - I am already through most of it, and now I'm in the final cave where the bear is sniffing around. The game showed me where exactly the spear is. But I'm having trouble making the final push/dash to the spear there.

There are TWO parts where you are taking the spear - once, in the Hunting Lodge (however, you should have had two close encounters with the bear until then (at the Dam's yard and at the train engine[BR])), and then in the cave to which the bear dragged you.

OK. I had the same problem as others. I restarted from checkpoint and tried again. What ultimately worked was going through the tiny crawl space with the backpack and taking the adrenaline shot, injecting it, then getting the spear and fighting the bear. Apparently, after third defeat, Mackenzie has to say "I'm ... I'm sorry" - that's the cue that the quest was completed properly.

Keep trying, the bug is not "computer-related", but rather "scripting-related", so if it didn't trigger correctly one time, try again. (Hope they fix it though)

I've managed to complete the objective now; thanks for the responses. I took an emergency stim and attacked the bear without resting between attempts. Like Alcator said, the third defeat will automatically initiate quest completion. I'm not sure if the stim was essential to defeating the bear, but there's no harm.

What do you mean by resting? Did you sleep with sleepbag or?

I agree that this really, really needs a save point after picking up the spear. I reloaded the game and then the scripting worked properly. The bear stalked followed me out of the initial cave. Then using the tiny hiding holes in the spear cave you can slowly stealth your way to the spear.

There is also some glitchy bear pathing where instead of walking in reasonably predictable lines it walks off and then turns around immediately to come back

Sorry, by 'resting' I was referring to stamina regen (each time after using the spear on the bear).
