Rabbit mittens/hat when starting fresh on ep2

So because of Redux I lost my save it seems. My problem is this though, I started on episode 2 because I didn't want to replay ep1, but I can't craft rabbit mittens or hat. So how am I supposed to do that when I have to complete "Basics of survival"? I can't find the books since they are in episode 1 and I can't backtrack to Milton (I tried to enter the cave by the trapper hut, but he (Mackenzie) just says "better stay focused"). "Learn to mend and maintain clothing" is supposedly from ep1 also, but that I managed without any books it seems. Do I get the blueprint to create the rabbit mittens/hat when I snare any rabbit? Any where?

If you like the Story Mode, why not replay Episode 1? It is very different from the original Episode 1, and is very much worth a replay, even if just for continuity's sake. So when Episode 3 comes out, things will line up, and make good sense. I enjoyed replaying after Redux came out, the experience was different enough to make it feel fresh, and was a much improved experience for me with Redux. And it may be the only way to get those early quests completed. Can't say for sure though. I replayed and can't test your theory.

The only way to get them is to find the book in episode 1.
