A little note about the Dam at Aurora
I just finished the Story Mode and it was pretty painstakingly long effort with little content. Now, I wanted to tell about one pretty crucial issue on the Dam, when you got there while the Aurora is on the sky.

First of all, the elevator can be only accessed from the 1st floor, so don't bother walking up to the admin area. Secondly, Fluffy is already a dead carcass, when you get to the bottom floor and examine the blocked hallway, that we used to walk down to the bottom floor on the original Dam-map.

But then comes the main thing I wanna talk about. After you've avoided all of the cables on the floor, you come up to this ledge, from where you have to descend down via rope. But you can't do that, if you are too tired. And if you are too tired, you need to sleep. And if you do that, you might need to sleep so long, that the Aurora will be gone and you cannot exit the Dam, and you end up dying in there *slow clapping*

Note, you can jump down from another nearby ledge on top of generator, but from that, you need to jump down into a set of cables, that will cause some serious burns to you. After you go further down the Dam, you are damaged and when you reach the final stairwell, you cannot get past some cables over there with reduced health unless you use one emergency stim and heal yourself after that.

It's not too late to fix these sort of things, Hinterland.

If you went into a time-critical part of the game already tired, I don't think that's the game's fault. Rest up before doing something important.

It's possible to safely walk over the cables in the stairwell by waiting for them to stop sparking, but this is far from obvious and I consider it a flaw. I also never thought about using a stim there. I spent a while looking for a switch to turn off.

My biggest complaint is that both eps end with a rope section making me drop 10kg of valuable tools and another 10kg of food and meds, stuff that I have a real hard time letting go of.

You should get over that, because you might have noticed by now that story mode has an abundance of resources.

Yes walk around over encumbered with stuff is almost useless in Story mode - you allways find more.

But, on that ledge in DAM, drop the excess in backpack, climb down, drop all the rest - if need, drop boots, heavy cloth... climb up and retrieve "your precious" loot. :steamhappy:

BTW - After leave the elevator don't get close of doors labeled EXIT at left side or you can end "teleported" back for Mathusalem company - forever. :steammocking:

Tell me again how you are using the stimpack to run across sparkling cable, but failed to use it to climb down the rope?

Well I figured it out later on. But it doesn't matter, as this is still a slight design fault, not everyone has those stims with them, when they would need them there.

There is a stim nearby (the office where you switch off power the first time).

I think Hinterland did provide critical equipment where there was a risk to get stuck - such as placing 1-2 bullets at each Bear-Killing-Spot, or providing just enough food and water for the 2 days you have to spend in Jeremiah's bunker. But yes, you have to look around and be thorough.

I never saw those bullets in the Old Bear-mission.

And yea, obviosly you need to check out your surroundings, but some people might not know, where those stims are used or are not taking them with them in the mindset, that they might not need them. It would make much more sense to have them in the turbine hall instead.
