how i do to gather snow to smelt?

Have a fire going, like at a stove, after the fire is lit interact with it. If you want you can add more wood to the fire to add to the time it will last. One of the options you'll see is to Melt snow. You can select how much you want to melt (I guess we can assume you run outside to gather the according amount into a pot). The higher the amounts will take longer and reduce time from the fire accordingly. After the snow is melted, I may then also suggest to boil it (if you just drink the melted water, you could get sick from it unless it's boiled). Good luck.

PS: If interested, in one of my Let's Play videos I use a stove to melt snow and then boil it. You can see it around the 17:00 minutes mark:

From a stove/fireplace/campfire/fire barrel you simply select how much snow you want to melt, there is no "gathering". After all, it's supposed that the character surely doesn't have a problem finding snow to melt.

this is what makes this game garbage, it is only very seldom intuitive , for melting snow you need something to put the snow in, even more logical would be , you could "eat" the snow without melting it...

There's actually a voice line in-game for this. If you're very thirsty your character will say "I'd eat snow if it wouldn't give me hypothermia".

You should never eat snow to quench your thirst. Sure it's ok if you're just outside ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around. But if you're actually in a life or death situation, you need to melt it first.

eating snow can scratch your throat and/or cause cold sores

It is instantly teleported to whatever heatsource you use, by pure magic. And then it instantly makes the melted snow poisonous, also by pure magic, so that you must 'purify' it somehow to be able to drink it. ;)

Don't think. Just light a fire, put a pot or can, and select Melt Snow.
