"The game now defaults to DirectX11 (from DirectX 9). If needed, players can still run in Directx9 mode by running tld_dx9.bat or passing -force-d3d9 as a command line parameter when launching the game."
(taken from post by gmagotgame on Steam forum)
In Steam interface, click on "LIBRARY".
In games list, right click on "The Long Dark".
Choose "Properties"
Click "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..."
Paste into text box "-force-d3d9" without the quotes
Click "OK".
Click "CLOSE".
Just do the same as above and delete the -force-d3d9
Tadaa, your game is back to normal.
thanks man this worked for Elder scrolls legends too
thank u so much dude
To address the original concern, the title can be launched into DirectX 9 via the "tld_dx9" batch file located in the folder directory where the title is installed. Additionally, the title can be launched into DX9 by setting the launch parameters via Steam's Properties to "-force-d3d9" (without the quotation marks).
