Nothing, you just melt it and then boil water, it is as you have unlimited snow on you.

To be fair, it's everywhere around you. But then, so is wood.

I'll be honest, my first death was partially due to this. I had yet to see a stove but I pickedup a water bottle. I drank it assuming that when empty, I'd keep the bottle as a conveyance of water that I thought was a requirement to melt and boil snow into potable water. Alas, it disappeared, and I frantically searched about for ore water, until heading to the ravine, down to the kill zone in hopes of getting water from the waterfall lol. Then, upon making my first stove fire, I saw all the options

Dat necro. Well, since they un-abstracted wood gathering, I suppose it's not out of the question that they'll do the same for snow melting. However, the snow is literally all around you, so it wouldn't make quite as much sense. On the winter maps, at least. If they ever make non-winter versions of maps, that'll be a different story.
