Can you sleep outdoors without freezing ?
I always seem to 'fade away into the long dark'. Is it possible to sleep outdoors?

So long as you have a nearby fire going while you sleep, I believe so.

I'm guessing that it might be possible now if you're sleeping in the bear skin bedroll. In the description for it, it sais that it might scare away other animals so it might stop the wolves from eatin' ya in your sleep.

I've done it but at a few hours at a time.

Si puedes dormir fuera facilmente ,no te hace falta nada mas que meterte dentro de un coche abandonado y dormir en la parte de atras
You definitely need a fire going to do it. I've done it before with just the basic bedroll, but without a fire you'll almost certainly die.

You need good clothes + repaired clothes + bedroll warmth + out of direct wind at the very least. Fire helps a lot obviously, especially if you can't get out of the wind. Length of time slept matters too, if you get frozen AND dehydrated AND starving because you slept 12 hours don't be surprised when you die.

if its freezing, you will die (if your condition is low and you sleep 12 hours). wolf can eat you as well. make a fire and let it burn for whole time, you are sleeping. just forage enough wood. but fire attract wolves. if you start fire in the forest, there is high chance 2-3 wolves will attack you (after last update).

I've only tried sleeping outdoors once and when I woke up a wolf was on top of me. But as long as you're out of the wind, not in a vunerable spot, and have a fire if you have weak/damaged clothes you should be good. I'd also recommend only sleep for a couple hours or as little as possible.

I slept 10 hours on 4 consecutive nights outdoors without wolf attack. Fire never went out, even in a raging blizzard with -25 temp and -25 wind chill on top of it, and I never saw a wolf. This was in the new zone up near Skeeter's Ridge, up against a rock outcropping, but not in a cave.

how did you make your fire last so long?

Fir logs (hard wood), and you can add up to 11h (12ish if you add a log while the fire is in the high 10s). Sleep 10 hours with an 11 hour fire. Also place the fire between the world and your bed, if possible. Some abandoned shacks/sheds are great for this (the ones with the little back left mini-room with one entrance, especially, or the one with the deck around the burned out house, they can't go over/through the deck and it acts like a wall). Put the fire in that single doorway and sleep soundly.

If you are going for the achive, use the potbelly stove in the lake fishing huts. That is still outdoors. Go in, spend a few hours gathering wood (like 8 or so hard woods) make a 12 hr fire and put your bedroll right in front. You can even fish there if you can break ice, that is if you dont have a few days food on you. Hope that helps.

plus using the stoves prevent the fire from ever going out. Placing a fire in the middle of the woods on the snow thew weather can snuff it right out even if you got like 4+ Fir logs in it. so pretty much you never want to sleep directly outside if you can avoid it. Not too many wind break areas either.

Wow, I always assumed if you got too cold sleeping outdoors you would wake up or something, didn't realise you just died (I mean it makes sense, but still). Glad I have always made sure a decent fire was going and I had enough clothing etc to not get too cold sleeping outdoors. There are some caves which are good sleeping spots in pleasant valley, also found a bridge that had a windproof corner I huddled up in with a fire. Work on max 3 hours sleep at a time normally.
