Tough Enough achievement
1000 days? I cry... but I understand. The real end-game trophy.

25 cougar struggles? It's manageable, give up on some temporary clothing and equip the ballistic vest, but jeez... why not "killing 25 cougars"? Even "killing 50" would be better than "getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by 25"...
Laceration infliction is just too painful... this is evil and not fun

Agreed !!!!
Rewarding struggles rather than kill reward the bad players more than the good ones.

I'm not sure it's an actual struggle.

I think every cougar charge dealing damage (with or without struggle) count toward the achievement.

If not that's indeed stupid af

If glancing attacks counts, the description is wrong. It would rather be "Take 25 Cougar Attacks". This is clear: "Survive 25 Struggles"

Yep...

They missed an opportunity to add "Being mauled by a bear 25 times" or "Being grazed by a rabbit"

Looking at Red Dead Redemption 2 achievements, I see the second to last ahcievement is to get mauled by a bear 18 times, but Hinterland thought it was a good idea to round it up to 25 where you get a nasty affliction that lasts 72h.

I find achievements usually feel tacked on and like an afterthought. I personally don't care too much about them, so if Hinterland doesn't put much thought into them, it doesn't bother me much. I guess it would suck for people who take them more seriously.

It is. It's like a chore GDs and Devs do 2 days before release. That's why they don't usually work properly as well.

There's some stuff done in studios without any thoughts nor reasons, just because "that must be done".

Never understood that...

Welp. See you boys in 2055 when I finally get all the new achievements
According to https://thelongdark.fandom.com/wiki/Tough_Enough?so=search glancing blows count as well towards tough enough

Still pretty grindy especially for needing to take damage

I have killed 10 cougars, taking 3 glancing blows per fight on average, it didn't unlock. The wiki is wrong or outdated, and this achievement is actually the biggest pain ever.

Ig you actually need struggle with the deep laceration to get it, it's awful... Maybe the ballistic vest prevent the laceration ? It prevents most of the glancing blows damage if you get other good gear.
Adri Jan 10 @ 12:58pm
Nope, I tried this idea, ballistic vest does not block severe laceration. The wiki says there is a ~90% chance of getting the affliction off a struggle, I never saw the ~10% where you don't get the affliction.
Adri Jan 10 @ 1:03pm
There is another theory where you need to get attacked by 25 different Cougars, or rather kill 25, I have yet to confirm this. I don't believe the description would be this far off the actual requirement.

I can confirm this. I tried the glancing blows only and it didn't work. You could probably try to get 100 percent protection with the ballistic vest and armored clothes, but tanking that many lacerations at once is a run killer. I'm not even bothering with this achievement and 1000 days. Too tedious, too time consuming.
Hinterland have said that the cougar achievement is currently disabled and they plan to replace it with a different cougar achievement in the future.

Edited to say: Please note this is wrong, it is the Feat that is current;y disabled
