Scurvy help
Any tricks to get rid of it ?
I've tried 3 drinks of rose hip tea
3 herbal tea
2 fish
2 raw carrots
a potato
2 canned peaches - one cold one hot.
1 prep burdock

Nothing seems to clear it or move the bar much

Do you have scurvy risk or scurvy affliction itself? If you have affliction, you need to gain 500 units of Vitamin C to cure it, otherwise it won't go away.

Looks like I have it :(

Well, the only good part is that you don't lose any vitamin C when you are afflicted with Scurvy :P And in the end you will have full vit.C gauge

Is there any way to gauge how much Vit c each food gives ?
I eat things but the bar doesn't seem to move much.

It's a custom game and there was no option to turn scurvy off.
Must have came enabled with an update.
Either that or you cannot turn it off.

You need 500 units of vitamin C
Here is the list of the vitamin C food and their value : https://thelongdark.fandom.com/wiki/Scurvy#Vitamin-C_Foods
If you aim for renewable food, you should fish a lot, I hear fishing is quite bugged at the moment, so maybe wait for a fix, but usually, you can get a lot of fish if you set 6 fishing holes with tip ups near a fishing hut.
If you eat a fish raw, you get more vitamin C but you get food poisonning, so don't...

Scurvy will make you lose 0.5% condition per hour, so it's manageable if you have long night sleep to recover.

You need to manage Scurvy.

If you're planning to go a lot days do not eat or drink anything you pick from a plant (cat tails, rose hips, roots, etc) Save them for the future when everything else is decayed.

Eat like 3 or 4 granola or energy bars and energy bars per day. To save water eat these when your thirst meter turns red which is often first thing in the morning. Drink after your breakfast but only drink half the water you need. It's better to keep the thirst meter between 1/3 and 1/2 so you can eat when very thirsty. (Opposite of real life).

Drink the Condensed Milk and eat three tins of sardines at the same time. These make you less thirsty. That is enough Vitamin C for 1 day on Stalker and 2 on Voyageur.

A can of Tomato Soup + a can of Pinnacle Peaches is enough Vitamin C for 2 to 4 days depending upon difficultly level.

Make a habit of ice hole fishing at the beginning of the week. Catch about 4 fish. Leave these at the fishing huts and come back to them when you need them. Or, when ever 20 days has elapsed to cook them. You can rotate fishing huts this way.

My advice is to stock up on fish alongside meat, and every time you get scurvy risk switch to a fish diet until it goes away. After eating 2 Coho Salomon Scurvy risk buggers of for around 3-4 days in my experience.

Also fishing with tip-ups is really easy and yields a lot of fish.

I have scurvy enabled but never had it....since that update I've always eaten a mixture of meat and fish and rosehips/roots ...in the beginning I just ate meats
Seaside Dec 9, 2024 @ 4:50pm
Thanks for the advice everyone !!

In case of scurvy warning I make raw fish binge. Before sleeping I eat as much lake fish as I can. I got poisoned, eat antibiotics and go to bed.
Maharthain Dec 13, 2024 @ 1:10pm
Yeah, you need to need to eat fish for days to recover.

Two days is enough. You can eat 10 kg raw lake fish at once, it's 220 units of vitamin C.

Two times and you are fine

Go somewhere to fish and eat only fish for like 3 days and you can kiss scurvy goodbye for the next 25 days. On stalker your world should spawn enough c-vitamin containing "normal" food in the world to last you easily to day 400 or so, but since the trader is at coastal highway i spend a few days fishing there to get the invisible scurvy meter to max whenever im there.
