Rifle spawns

i know they changed how loot works but is there a loot travel loop to find a rifle ? or is it completely RNGesus now ? i have 300 rifle rounds but no rifle :(

I recall that the availability of rifles was changed with more emphasis on revolvers and the known spawn locations of rifles pre-DLC release were changed. Can't depend on the old maps and knowledge (like Mystery Lake having seven rifle spawn locations and one of them would have a rifle or Desolation Point where there were two locations that were likely to have a rifle).

I spawned in Desolation (before I knew of the change) and didn't find a rifle until I had left Desolation and searched Coastal Highway where I found, in the last possible place for it, Barb's rifle. Didn't find another rifle until I was in Pleasant Valley. I had a couple revolvers before I found my first rifle.

It was rather frustrating.

So far I heard nothing really about any "guaranteed" spawns. Some folks have not found Barb's rifle in Coastal despite going to all possible locations and searching the entire region.

I seem to find them near corpses, so keep an eye out for crows. The unique rifles have a limited number of spawn points, so those are easy to target. If a rifle is a goal I would look for Barb's or Vaugn's. Barb's is in Coastal Highway, Vaughn's will be in Carter Hydro or Winding River. Can find one in a stocked prepper cache. The tail section on TWM, but won't be there on Gunloper.

ah i dont have the dlc yet so the named weapons arent available to me

So far, when I played with guns, I have always found one in HRV and one in BR. Ordinary ones. But you might have to look in remote spots. Oh, and there was always one on the summit, too.

In my current game I have yet to find a rifle, but I am not looking that hard. What are the benefits, if any, of the named rifles?

The variant rifles are all found at one of several pre-determined locations on specific maps.

I also found a regular rifle in the Timberwolf Mountain Summit in a cargo container.

"Breaks quickly" is an exaggeration. It uses up 2% condition per shot, which on a 100% condition rifle is 50 rounds.

IMHO, this is best rifle just giving the weight reduction compared to the others.
