Trapper's Cabin Bear Missing
Started a new run. There are bones in the bear cave at Trapper's Cabin but the bear is nowhere to be found. I double checked the other spawns and the only other bear is at the back of the lake.

Anyone else experienced a bug with this specific bear spawn since the update?

EDIT: Got myself nice and stinky and stood at his cave entrance passing time for more than 12 hours, my furry friend never showed up.

Not a bug, the bear is not always there. Bones just tell you a bear can spawn there.
The bear at the lake is a good one, you can hide in the nearby fishing hut if you don't manage to kill it quickly.

Unless they changed this with the wildlife update, Bears should always spawn on an active spawn (indicated by bones) unless they have already been killed and the respawn timer hasn't come up yet.

I'm going to make a copy of my save file and just camp there for several days to test this.

EDIT: Camped out for several days, left the region, came back, searched the bear's patrol route often, it never materialized.

Right after they released the update I started a run in ML. The bones were in the cave by Trapper's. The Bear was nowhere to be seen for several days. I took the long way around to Unnamed Pond, cleared that area out and went back to Trapper's to drop off loot and set up a food, water, and spare clothing stash there. Heading back toward the tunnel to FM- my next planned destination.
Oops!
Bear. The Bear was wandering near Max's corpse. And headed up the hill like it was headed toward the Deadfall area. I turned around and decided to take the cave to Mountain Town instead, lol. I have no idea if the Bear actually went completely over the hill into the Deadfall area, but I wasn't going to chance meeting it without a rifle, I just wasn't in the mood to deal with it that day.

TL;DR- the old tightly looped patrol routes may no longer be so tightly looped- the critters may have had their leashes loosened again, and they now patrol futher and wider than what many of us were used to in the past.

(quick edit to fix some typonese...)

Not a bug, multiple spawn locations

(Wait 'til they come out of Camp Office some morning to find their new neighbor- that is a fun place to run into a Moose when you aren't expecting it, lol.)

Heh. Yeah, it's a new spawn point for Bullwinkle. And boy, was I ever glad I spent years learning how to mountain goat around to get past it to go grab acorns. Didn't run into the Bear down by Unnamed Pond yet, and now I am wondering if it still spawns there, and if it does, if it also roams more widely around that area.

What do you mean by this?
Whenever there are bones at a bear cave, it means that bear spawn is (or should be) active. Whenever the area is loaded in, the bear should spawn somewhere along it's patrol route or in it's cave sleeping.

Wanna hear something funny? I’ve been playing for years and never picked up an acorn. Never look for it. I need a “stubborn camper” badge… never picks up important stuff, bonus +90% instant pickup when you’re near an object 😂

Bones in the cave doesn’t mean the bear is at that spawn for sure. Could be multiple locations on your map.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but haven’t seen different

I watch Zaknafein on YouTube when I’m doing other stuff at the house and pick up occasional tips. He’s mainly an interloper++ player. Bears and moose have alternate spawns, not always the same. Regardless of signs. Sometimes you have to go a map or two to find your goal animal spawn. Watched him hunt moose from ML>PV>and most of TVM before he got it on the way to the tech backpack

And I was away from Trapper's for 3 days, went back, and it did. Not sure what to tell you.
