Lamp oil

How is everyone getting enough of it for these trader recipes on interloper? I've done 1 (wolfskin pants) and i'm on the pemmican bar trade now but it's taking what feels like a lifetime and i just want to go exploring new areas now i've crafted all the clothing and i'm warm.

Is it just a case of sitting in the fishing shack for a week or 2 with multiple tip up's set up?? I've done days (if not weeks) in the hut at CH and probably caught 100-200 fish at this point but get like 0.02 lamp oil every time.... 3 litres per trade recipe feels a bit overkill to me.

With 200 fish you should have gotten enough oil. I have traded 9 liters so far and still had so spare for my lantern.
I usually fish for 1 or 2 days with 6 tip ups. I harvest a big fish to get baits to get bigger fish overall. Fishing is necessary anyway to get vitamin C and I used it to reset cabin fever too.

Yeah me too, i go down to the hut and fish loads, probably eating more fish than meat atm and have a big pile cooked outside the Quonset. But only probably got 4.5 litres out of all of it, 3 of which i've already traded for the wolf pants... I don't use any for my lantern either and i'm day 130'ish so basically swimming in every other resource apart from lamp oil!! I've got 3 batteries just sitting here waiting to be traded :(

I had some fancy lures which get the rare big fish, that soon racked up the oil...mind you I'd already gave him half of what was needed...
I had the runs from eating so much fish 😀

There was a time many months ago when the amount of lamp oil from a fish was pretty much fixed so you'd want smaller fish which cooked faster to get the same amount of lamp oil. That got changed a while ago.

Don't know how the OP caught hundreds of fish in Coastal Highway and didn't get any number of salmon which would have had a substantial amount of lamp oil in each salmon to harvest. Strange things can happen especially when the RNG is in play.

You get 4-5 Salmon in CH beachcombing every week.

Everyone want all receipts at once. But I think it's normal to spend several weeks for all of them
