Just like not being able to start a campfire indoors, because its not safe. Kerosene, or any other POL, would eat away at any plastic container not specifically designed to hold POLs. Maybe if it was only a temporary measure until you find a jerry can, but most players would simply leave them in water bottles. If that's the case, to water bottles should deteriorate very fast ingame to incentivise putting kerosene in proper containers
Agreed. I just confirmed that if you scrap a lantern with a proper fuel storage in your inventory, you do get that kerosene back. As for just emptying it without scrapping it, we should have that option as well. I have 3 of them so im not worse for wear.
Yes, the most recant lantern I've harvested emptied into a pair of lantern fuel flasks, so those should work if they haven't changed anything.
Yeh. Someone was suggesting more robust kerosene management options, but I posted there that I suspect this will be coming in the update that adds siphoning fuel from cars.
Siphoning gas might be iffy. Depending on how long they've been there, the fuel might be sludge. Also, gasoline and kerosene aren't that similar; I'd be hesitent to use gasoline in a kerosene lamp in real life. What other use would gasoline provide, use as an accelerant perhaps? If it's in a coming update though, I won't argue.
Maybe this could be a rare drop?
