Acorns
Since the update, I have managed to find the acorns to make acorn coffee. I have a heavy hammer, but the game is not letting me crush them. Is there something I am missing? Any suggestions would help. Thank you.

You have to cook them first.

I guess they only cook with a cooking pot and not a can. Thanks

The same reason why we can't harvest saplings with bare hands )

Acorns have to first be prepared which does not require any tools. Preparing an acorn takes 10 minutes.

Then each prepared acorn has to be cooked using 0.25 liters of water and you don't get the water back in any fashion. Cooking time is the same as making teas and coffee.

At this point the cooked prepared acorn can be processed using the heavy hammer. I haven't gotten that far because where I am I don't have a heavy hammer.

Presumably one can then brew the acorn coffee.

There is a large portion of prepared and of cooked prepared acorns (see the crafting list) though how much acorn "coffee" that results in I do not know (yet).

yeah I definitely think the blunt end of a hatchet should work just fine.

Thanks for the info. But I have picked up enough acorns to cook, but I am not getting the icon to be able to cook them on a fire or on a stove. I still seem to be missing something. I am playing on Pilgrim.

Are you using a cooking pot, with at least .25 liters of water in your inventory?

You need to prepare them first, then use a container and some water to cook them at fire, then crush them for the crushed version that can be cooked into coffee with, guess what, container and some water.

It's convoluted alright but as something that is renewable that replenishes your stamina I think it's fair.

"Offtopic" BTW - the Powder do not show up in the "Food" Tab... :steammocking:

Ok, so I finally figured out how to cook the acorns. Need enough to crush to make a powder for coffee. I ended up eating some of the acorns lol. Thanks for all the help everyone! Game on.

I was super confused by this too. The option to prepare them is in a different menu from rose hips and reishi mushrooms.

I can't even figure out how to get the Acorns. I have plenty of Acorn trees in the region I'm in, but I look at the tree and the brown spots next to the tree and I'm not getting any prompt. Is there a specific tool I need to use?

No, you don't. They are to be dug out with bare hands.

Thanks, I figured out I was looking at the wrong texture (the texture showing someone had already dug there). Finally noticed the other texture where the acorns were.

Thanks, I could not figure out how to process the acorns either, I saw that you need to crush them after cooking, but I never saw a recipe for cooking, and did not know about the pot with water.
