Fire in the hangar
Ok, so I wanted to do the signal void thing. Started somewhat close to the hangar slept two hours and then wanted to make a little fire to warm up and get a few torches for light and wolf defense but then I noticed that you cannot make a fire anywhere in the actual hangar?!! WTF! I cannot reach the forge in the basement because it is pitch dark there. I cannot go to another place or outside because there is a blizzard going on for hours now. This is really melting my brain. I'm standing in the biggest room in the game and I cannot make a fire. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game design. Completely breaks immersion. Hate it!

Frustrating!

You could try and find a windproof spot outside the hangar (although the game will probably cause the wind to change once you find that spot and light the fire!)

There's also a maintenance shed near the hangar which may also provide a windproof spot to light a quick fire.

Finally, if you have matches or a flare, you could use that to navigate downstairs in the hangar and also light the fire.

Otherwise use the time to loot as much of the hangar as you can and wait until morning.

I finally relented and used a flare to get to the forge. Still, having such a giant building and being unable to make a fire in there is a really odd choice. Put a fire barrel in the middle or something. It is already pretty stupid that you cannot make a fire indorrs but when you are standing in the hangar, and considering that there are no fire places in the tower or the terminal, it's just incredibly bad level design.

And to top it all of, I got food poisoning from a candy bar which is a first.

edit: I have almost 600 hours in this game so this is really mostly ranting and not asking for advice. ;) Thanks anyway.

Go to the stairs in the left side, you can put a campfire in front of door, even in Blizzards.
With the fire lit there, can enter the door, but can go outside or end over the fire.

Other than this, only in the small shed across the runway - in front passenger terminal; you can make fire protected by wind.

No, in any place of this open hangar the wind will blow off the fire during blizzards.

I feel this topic. Seems a bit out of hand that in this big hangar is not a fire place like a barrel and in addition there is even no indoor cooking in the kitchen. Seems weird and did in fact draw me away from this location after repairing the tower.

It did took me a time to realize where the forge in the hangar is, in fact the only indoor cooking spot this location has.
It's really weird. Yeah. In other buildings they always put a stove or a barrel in so that you do not notice the odd "no fires inside" problem that much but in the hangar and other close buildings it is glaring.

The other industrial buildings with fire barrels weren't also full of planes and aviation fuel?

Full of aviation fuel?? Oh and the basement is fire proof, i guess?! Ok...

It may have a separate ventilation system and fire door. I am just pointing out what occurred to me when I first explored the area.

Is that what you are doing?

valid point. Never thought about that but working with high amounts of fuel would lead to a decision, better not to have a source of open fire near that place.
It's actually illegal to refuel a plane inside a hangar but ok.

FAA Circulars and NFPA standards are not the law -- you won't be thrown in jail for not following the guidance. Just don't expect peers, customers, or airport administration to want to do business with you if you engage in risky behavior

Point being, fuel isn't stored in the hangar for obvious reasons.

I didn't say fuel was stored in the hangar, but the planes might have fuel in them. When I couldn't find a fire barrel or stove in there I assumed it was a decision by the devs based on that.
