Should I buy "Tales From the Far Territory"?

I see some people complaining that it's empty, but some liking it for more survival elements?

What exactly does it add to the game? How large is this area? Does it also add new gameplay elements, quests, or a story line?

I didn't succeed to reach the new region yet.
The second drop of content the 31 merch will bring content: gameplay, quests and stories.

"Empty" is a subjective term. It's by no means objectively empty, but because the big new region is an Airfield, it has vast open spaces with few points of interest in them; most Points of Interest are either directly at the 'airport building' or more towards the edges of the map.

If in doubt, I'd suggest to wait until the 2nd part of the DLC come out.

I would say grab it, its on sale and after each part is released the base price goes up $5, with a total price of $30 when its finished, so this will probably be the lowest price for a while.

I’d wait until the next update comes out and see. I bought it the day it released, and was somewhat disappointed with the lack of content at launch, and that the first update was already delayed by around a month. I’m still hoping it gets better, and that Hinterland adds all the content they said they would, but I’d wait until the next update if I were you.

If I could do it again, I’d have waited. I really don’t like the out they gave themselves that anything could be dropped from the roadmap “due to development realities” without really clarifying what would qualify for that. I love The Long Dark, and think Hinterland has done a fantastic job with it, but this dlc hasn’t been what I’d hoped it would be so far.

I'm not quite sure what the people who are disappointed were expecting - we were told that the updates would be rolled out over a year. I got what I expected - a big new map, smaller transition maps, a few new items. I'm looking forward to the rest.

OP, if you don't mind getting a some content now but most of it later, then buy it now. If you prefer to see what the full content will be and how people like it, then wait for the rest. Some people have experienced lots of bugs, some none or few. I've had one annoying bug, a few smaller ones. None enough to stop me from playing and enjoying the new region, which I really love. It's not for everyone but I personally love the wide, open spaces, the vast emptiness which makes traversal a challenge, and some of the locations that feel quite unique.

I do recommend the DLC but if you would prefer to see how all the content turns out, best to wait.

I didnt bought it and i think its one of the worst regions in GB island. Blackrock is a good region, well designed and pretty challenging and i would pay for it and be happy but FA is crap

Only you can decide. For me, it was an easy choice. The new region is quite unlike any other, and I like being along for the ride. However, if you get easily frustrated, you might find it easier to wait till later. Then it will be more clear what you are really paying for.
