Placing items
With the new update can you now place items on shelves, etc. If so how as I seem to only have an option to drop and then take or leave.
Thanks

Drop Item - Right Click - Left Click (that's about it)

I think there are still some items you can't place, correct? Maybe I just could figure how to get the item to be active before placing it.

All items can be placed in a valid location // worktops ect

Items have to be dropped on the floor from the inventory if you want to place them somewhere else.
Furniture, like shelves, chairs, tables, and so on can not be moved. Only the things you can put in your inventory.

Oh my goodness, thanks for bumping this. I accidentaly found out about the placing thing, and then forgot how I did it. It had been driving me insane...

148 hours of playtime into The Long Dark, wishing there was a way to straighten up the place, and I happen to be reading an article about something else (favorite bases with their pros/cons) and someone mentions placing items on shelves. Mind. Blown. I see a temporary time-killer in my near future. =P

Very stupid to have to drop items in order to place them. I would have never guessed that,! Who would drop raw meat on the floor before cooking it?! Its absurd and dumb. I tried to place raw meat from the circular menu, cause I couldnt find another way. Which means I accidentally ate it, got food poisoning and died from a nice run in interloper..Death from bad game design more like it.

This is why it's very important to know the difference between right and left. That's not Hinterland's fault.
