During snow storm inside a wind-covered place, with fire on.
I put my working boots on ground. starting wetness: 31%
I took of my sport boots but kept them in inventory. starting wetness: 28%
I kept my ear-warming-things on head. starting wetness: 59%
Sport boots were dry first. At this moment working boots on 2% -> they dry in same speed.
Earthings were on 33%, so they have dried 26%.
So according to this experiment: keeping clothes on at fire reduce dry-down-speed.
When taking clothes off, it doesnt matter if they are on ground or in inventory.
The differences are rather minimal.
(well, was just 1 test, maybe there should be made more)
That can be reset by removing the clothes for a short time then putting them back on - being in Pilgrim I will drop it in a heap for a minute or two, YMMV. Might keep an eye on things if your activities keep you walking away from the fire and back to it, as whether the reset has to be repeated in that situation as I don't know.
I do know that the drying influence of an active fire does reach farther out that you might think. The temperature of the fire does not matter for drying though if you don't want to freeze it better raise your Feels Like Temperature above freezing.
