How to harvest water?
Hi there, I just bought the game today. My first attempt I think went well. It was 1 day, 13 hours, and 57 minutes. I know the basics and controls, but I don't understand 1 thing. Water harvesting. This was one of the reasons I died. My question is: why can't I harvest water from waterfalls? I ran into 3 waterfalls on my journey. Not once could I grab water. I don't understand. I had a jug, I had a waterfall. Why couldn't I hold the jug under the falls to grab water?
Thank you for every answer.

Yea, water can't be harvested in this game .... it can sometime be wierd but getting it is actualy easy.

For water, you need to make a fire, then you can melt some snow. Don't forget to boil it so you don't get sick ! In ther fire hud, there is 3 tab, 1 for combustible, 1 for cooking, 1 for water.
Hope that help and have fun !

Actually, you can harvest water in one way: toilet tanks in homes with toilets. And oddly, it is potable water, so you don't need to boil it. I'd rather eat snow, but it's water.

Only other place I found to harvest water like that was in the Quonset gas station; there's a bowl on the workbench. Had a teeny bit of water in it. I was surprised. I had been living in the gas station for 27 days and didn't realize there was a little bit of water in it, haha.

You can even melt snow with an indoor fire.

The water is harvested from the tank not the bowl, thats why you can drink it.

I don't know that I would drink water from the tank. It is far too close to the bowl. Has to be ripe with fecal coliform bacteria.

actually the way they work as long as some one hasent opened the top and left it that way it would be as good as water from the sink. Also at this point would you really care ? :P Most of the time you end up setting up shop with a dead man within 50 feet so I'd say you' would be desensitized. :)

Stunningly beautiful waterfalls everywhere.... but not a drop to drink. The game is almost perfect for me, but constantly melting snow is a real pain. So if there was one thing I'd like from the developers - it would be the ability to collect non-potable water from the base of a waterfall!
