Mountaineer's Hut repair
Hmmm so I've been living in Mountaineer's Hut for a while now and have recovered a heavy hammer from the plane wreck. It's cold in the hut.
Would you let me repair the roof and close the shutters? The roofing boards are there and the shutters are jammed open. A heavy hammer will do the trick ;)

It'd be nice!

Yeah, I think that would be quite good. Perhaps you could find nails, or have to forge your own ones in order to repair the damaged roof? It could take a fair bit of wood and time though to balance it out.

I would definately like to see it in as a mod at least, for sure.

Yeah maybe arrow heads as nails? Do you sacrifice your arrows to secure the hut from the weather?

It would be a challenge to make enough arrow heads in DP to then make the trek to Mountaineer's Hut to fix it.

Anyone up for the challenge?

No thanks! I just came back to Pleasant Valley since I had left a whole bunch of guts and furs in the Mountaneers Hut.

Still, that's a good idea, having to use up arrowheads in place of nails. Maybe nails could be a rare spawn, and if you want to insulate different buildings (Little barns, fishing huts and the like) you'd have to use arrowheads?

Or you could dismantle the fishing hut in order to get supplies to repair the house. Perhaps with a change the nails would bend and become unusable.

Instead of nails, let's assume the Tool Kits have nails and actually put those things back to use.

I concur. We need to be able to make the hut a true livable home. I want to do a challenge run staying only in TWM, but sticking to the caves isnt really my thing.

Is there no other shelter in Timberwolf Mountain other than the Mountaineer's hut, caves and plane wreckage ?

That's it....other than the nearby fishing hut. I love the isolated feeling, but really would have loved at least one real home to go back to after climbing the mountains and camping out in the caves until making it back down.

Thanks ! I now know that certain death awaits me if I'm not back to one of those locations when blizzard strikes…

I find the survival run there easier if you sleep during the warmer parts of the day or evening and roam around in the early morning, that way you're awake by the fire in the coldest parts of the night.

I think we can also assume that the Scrap Metal resource includes things like nails.

sounds awesome :3

Hinterland--any thoughts on this? Might be nice to be able to close that gash in the roof and insulate the door--maybe that gives another +5 degree bonus while not making it an official indoor space as a compromise. Could require hard-to-find materials, or making nails in a forge from other metals.

Honestly it's one of my favorite locations. In real life I'd turn that hole into a skylight, put in a stove, upgrade the door, and voila--beautiful location for a winter getaway.

Thats not the point @Swnson4ON.
That Hut is meant to be an outside house. Your insulation comes from near spots of deers, rabbits, wolf and bears... AND i can be sure about it, cause i lived more than 600 days there when then release it.
