Survive 3 days outside

I feel like it might be pretty easy to do if I just load up on a ton of wood/food and find someplace where the wind is blocked, but also someplace close to my base just in case things go horribly wrong and I need to retreat and try again some other time.
So I have a question: Is the top of the lighthouse technically "outside"?

Ya if it's outside, it's outside! Also check your outside temp on your player

I'm actually going to double-check on this in the next week. There are some "outdoor" locations (like caves) that will count against you if you're going for the achievement. I think the lighthouse is okay, but I'll be sure to ask.

Oh! Thank you! This is why I asked, because I know a cave is technically outside, but wasn't sure if it counted since you're, you know... inside of it. Haha.
In any case, I've started piling up wood and food up there and won't try it until the last wolf pelt has cured and I've made the cloak! :D

I think it will be pretty cold on the top of the lighthouse. If I remember well, wind is harder, and temperature are colder when you are "on altitude".

Maybe you could find a place under a bridge, or near a cascade and setup a camp there instead.

You get a pretty good wind block from glass around the lighthouse and you can light a fire. You can do it within the glass, you don't have to go out on the catwalk.

I just did it a couple days ago searching for the Summit in TM. I went all the way up without going into the cave system. It was not that tough with enough wood, but you Must make sure you have the Shield Icon showing and you are shielded from the wind. If you are not shielded the time the fire will burn is greatly reduced and the amount of heat you get from it is lessened too.

I remember trying to get the achievement on top of the lighthouse too, but it didn't work for me. Maybe I did something wrong, I don't know, but it didn't count after 3 nights.
So I slept right around the corner of the main door of the lighthouse (downstairs). I didn't even have the wolf coat and I still did it :) So you can try this and it'll work just fine. Just sleep in short intervals, make a lot of fires and make sure to get outside some time before it gets dark, just to be sure.

Thanks! I was thinking of trying it right in front of the lighthouse as well, but I liked that there was a container for me to stash food and whatever in on top of the lighthouse while still having areas that were safe from wind. But I see some people say they got it atop the lighthouse and some in front. Who knows, maybe I will decide on another place before I gather more stuff!

i did this in an ice fishing hut, too. it was a lot easier back then though -- no manual foraging for wood. used to spend weeks in huts!

I did it in the Summit on Timberwolf Mountain. Once you get up there, there's an oh-so-obvious place where you'll want to sleep until the end of the game (if it had any)… :-)
