How to transfer items into storages?

Hey,
I've just bought TLD & I'm heavily struggeling with the weight limit at the moment, not because it's actually too low but because I have to carry everything I have with me all the time, which is massively limiting my looting trips.

I know that there exists a possibilty in the game to store items in e.g. cupboards, but I just can't figure out how to do that. It's neither listed in the controls-section nor could I find anything helpfull via Google searches.

May anyone please explain me how to do that? I really don't wanna carry all my supplies with me all the time x.x

When you find an indoor place, there will be cabinets, drawers, etc. to loot. After you loot them, click again and a window will open up where you can fill that space up with whatever you don't want to carry in your personal backpack. I usually just drop my wood near a fireplace also. Let us know I wasn't clear okay? Have great fun!

This is actually how far I already got. My problem is, that I can't find a way to transfer stuff within this window. So far, the items resisted all attempts I've made to get them into the cabinet I wanna store them in. How does transfering within this window work?

EDIT: When looting, I can just click the items to loot them, but when transfering back, nothing like that works so far :/

That's actually what I try to do since all that firewood is quite heavy^^

Okay, let's make this extremely thorough because I know how confusing things can be when someone tries to explain something without actually being present.

Standing in front of a storage unit (cupboard, drawer, etc.. but not shelves for example because they are empty) a prompt will open the screen like in your inventory.

You see on screen on the left with your stuff inside, and you can click on your items and press (A for controller, use key for keyboard, no clue what that is : P) to transfer your stuff. Then you can also use a certain key to switch between the screens to switch things back. Don't forget that storage units also have a limited weight capacity which you can see at the top right.

So, summary:
- Click on storage unit
- See 2 screens (left: your stuff with multiple tabs for multiple categories, and the most left for everything in 1 overview | right: stuff inside the storage unit)
- Press use key on selected item to transfer until weight limit of storage unit is reached

It is both at same time, of course: UI = User Interface like in "using"

Yeah that took me a few minutes to get as well. Normally a game would just let you double click and have the items transfer.
