Headshot or not?
Does anyone know if the game has different impact zones in the body of wolf? I hit it for 3 times, with arrows, but this wolf was still alive (at the 4th is dead). I mean, is the headshot (or something like that) letal? So far i was not able to do it.. so I gently ask to the community :-)

Yes, there are different body zones, reacting differently to your shots. Head comes, obviously, with the biggest chance for a critical (dropping the animal at once). Crit chances depend on zone hit and on your type of weapon, of course.

If you deal NOT a crit, you still inflict "bleeding", leading to the death of the animal eventually. But making multiple non-critical hits don't speed up the bleeding out process. So one could argue it is smart to only hit an animal with one bullet and one bullet only, then waiting for its death. Multiple shots only help if you make a crit, otherwise they are wasted ammunition. Even worse: If you had a bleeding inflicted to the head at first you make matters worse when you inflict a bleeding in the legs later on, because when it comes to determine the amount of bleeding only the last shot is taken into account.

One last: If you have a little bad luck you only "graze" the animal, that doesn't inflict much of anything. If this happens you can see a blood splatter in the snow, but no blood trail.

edit: spelling

You can see all details on the wiki:

Warning: lots of adds, but lots of interesting things also.

A headshot on a wolf or deer is lethal with rifle or bow, not with the revolver.
On a bear or moose, 3 headshot are necessary (2 once you've leveled up the skills).

The part where you hit will also have different bleeding time except for the moose immune to bleeding.

aim for the lungs to one shot practically everything

Archery is super-easy to train, especially once they introduced fire-hardened arrows. Wolves used to charge directly into you a while ago meaning you do headshot with instakill 95% of such encounters, given you trained archery to lvl4+ (head hitbox is huge). Now they made it slightly more interesting, but still quite an easy shot if you hold it until the last second.
If you not up to last-second shot, then after training archery to lvl5 you can shoot from crouching, and crouching is super-OP. You can hunt timberwolves for fun (obviously not with headshots, since you can't let them charge you and they are great dodgers once they spot you, still they bleed easily). Just need to crouch all the time within spotting distance and have some spare arrows (I usually carry 10+).

Does that work?
In short, skull shots is never a good thing to do if hunting (too much bones that reflects the bullet/arrow) to get a clean/fast kill. I tend to go with lung shots but have no clue as to if TLD has gone with the Call of Duty "gaming" concept (headshots) or the more IRL concept?

With Rifle or bow (with leveled up skill on bow), yes. I've taken down multiple moose, wolves and deer in one shot aiming for the lungs but not tried against timberwolves. Think I may have done it with a bear too but can't be certain

Good info, thank you gentlemen/woman.

Wonderful! I didn't know that the mechanics of the shots were so accurate. So far I'm following the story.. and when I deal with wolves I used to run away :D
At this stage, however, the battles with wolves involve me a little more. So I wanted to figure out how not to waste ammunition. Thank you so much to all!!
