Empty Corpses?
This has to be one of my biggest peeves in the game. I can see that the corpses aren't naked. at the very least, cloth should be a harvest from every corpse, with the random chance of more. Same with backpacks.

yes maybe BUT there are enough things to find,... it would get to much if not random and sometimes empty

gameplay should be more important than realism (IMO)

Actually PitchBlackSun I'm with mcclure77 on this one. Finding a dead corpse with nothing always makes me think "why even bother generating it??". Cloth and low end clothing is one of those things so common I dont even bother looting from houses. One peice as a booby prize wont break the bank IMO.

Agree-some are appears to be in "ravaged" state but should be able to salvage cloth or cured leather at the least,

I`d say more. And in more dark way. Imagine yourself in a wasteland of snow, like this. You have no food and you are starving. Suddenly you see a corpse... yeah... made of meat. Human meat. What would you do? Would you better die from starvation or grab leg or arm of that poor frozen chap who doesn`t care anymore what will happen with his corpse?
I see only one obstacle to this, the game rating has to be moved to mature or amth, because technically it`s a cannibalism. But hell... in zombie games, we see zombies eating corpses... nothing bad with that there.

With so much wildlife i don't think i'd be a cannibal if it were availiable in the game. But if i had to choose i'd say a leg would give more calories. :)

With so much wildlife, yes, of course. But as we know, ♥♥♥♥ happens. One might be shrouded with storm weather, low on calories, in the open, with no shelter. I meant, make them harvestable for last resort option.

I would have no problem if it was in the game i can see how it could be it's just that it wouldn't be a feature i'd want to use. But as you say if you had no choice but to die...
RainmakerLTU Oct 17, 2015 @ 4:35pm
Exactly. I don`t say - go and eat all corpses around. I say, if you are desperate, try the leg. It may keep you alive while you reach nearest shelter or your base loaded with normal food.
If there would be a morale bar... or mood bar in game... character should be very very sad if he must eat a human flesh to survive. Here comes an alcohol as mood rising option.

For clothing, they corpses outdoors are exposed to constant blizzards, so they would be shredded, with clothing maintained visually just to not have nude corpses everywhere, any actual clothing or even cloth harvested would be in very poor condition. As for human meat, unless a givne player is near death and has already harvested the forzen deer carcasses, they should rarely if ever need to partake in human flesh, plus the risks of prionic infections makes it somewhat risky. For indoor corpses, the clothing may be in better condition and if above freezing, the modies should be malleable enough to assist in removal of clothing but then theres always putrifaciton that has to be considered.

This game already offers so much to be looted from building and the land and harvested from nature, having the corpses yield relatively more doesn't add all that much in the grand scheme of things. If one must rely on corpses delivering more just to survive, then they really messed up on a given run, don't ask for more just to save themselves.
Even if the speculative topic of cannibalism does tend to surface from time to time, there are no plans to include such a system in The Long Dark. As for changing up or modifying the loot salvageable from corpses, we appreciate the feedback on this. For me, even when the corpse has nothing to offer, you can usually find a few bird feathers around to save for later if they are outdoors.

Well, the premise here is that the event JUST happened, right? So, these people are basically freshly dead. Given that fact, their clothing should still be useful, if not as a coat or hat, etc at LEAST as a piece of cloth to repair your existing clothes. You don't need much material to make patches. I think the real difficulty is that we want to be realistic, but then we don't want to be realistic. If I have to waste 5 minutes of my life very SLOWLY making my way across a snowy field for realism sake, then I'd prefer to get more use out of the corpses as well, and not have them just be dead human shaped containers.

This is one thing that always puzzles me, and that I hope they explain in story. If this disaster just happened, how come there are human corpses litered everywhere from day one? I mean, survival in winter is hard, I know, but you should be able to at least last a day, especially true for corpses that spawn in loot-filled houses. I'm looking at you, Mr Camp Office. How *did* you manage to die in there so fast?

Hmmmm, maybe they all had pacemakers?

I think it's been mentioned before but I got/get the impression that some may have taken things into their 'own hands' so to speak....that may just be my morbid mind though .

Not sure I would like to keep walking past/living with, a dead, naked person though :wat:

Also mentioned elsewhere, but why are all the mirrors broken? :thinkcyto: ...other than for possible gaming reasons...
