Infection risk question?
Does anyone have alot of experience with infection risk? So far I'm noticing a patern where they go down in infection chance, to around 28%, then they rise to 100% where they become full blown infections. Do they ever just pass in anyones experience? If so is it only the times where they go past 28% to zero?

It's possible for it to just go away. One reason to not use antiseptic until you actually get a full infection. I only use moss bandages (i play animal/plant/bow only), so I never worry about infections.

I wouldn't recommend that. Antibiotics have two uses while antiseptic only has one. It's much better to use antiseptic on the front end and get rid of its weight burden while building up the lighter OMB bandage reserve. Once those run out, then one should play the infection risk game and use antibios, rather than get wiped out by a food poisoining episode because they used all their antibios or reishi tea to treat wound infections while having a gallon of antiseptic avaliable.

Look at the medical screen. Infection risk comes from bleeding wounds. Originally, they are all 50%. When bandaged, they drop 25%. Antiseptic reduces this another 40%. Goes away if % below zero. If you wait on either of these, percent chance of getting infected gradually goes up. If you do not use them in time, infection can become guaranteed. Best to treat wounds quickly.

For anyone else, this is true, but as I said, I only use animals (hunting with bow only) for food, and plant based medicines. I can have gallons of antiseptic/biotics and pounds of painkillers, but they'll never see use.

Animal meat is not risk free. Even at 99% cooked condition, it bears the risk of food poisoning, it may be almost zero, but not absolute zero. Plant based medicines are ultimitely limited due to the limit on how many mushrooms one can harvest, since they do not respawn. If one does not intend to last a very very long time, then this may potentially not be an issue, but electing to utilize a given resource that has multiple uses over another the precedes it for its only use is just not frugal.

I call it, like the achievement, "living off the land". Record so far was 196 days, and could easily have gone much longer if I hadn't gotten reckless with trying the 3 nights outside achievement.
