Cure Frostbite
Why can't the frostbite be cured?

I just replay the game, the last time was like 2014, and was going all well, but at some point while being, I think wet, in the igloo after some hours of sleep I got the frostbite affliction even if my temperature was good, I was busy surviving a bear and didn't pay attention to the first hint, but the fact that while the hours passes and doesn't alert you before I find it difficult to understand.

Is there any way the cure will be added? having always that HUD alert is so annoying, I was even thinking about installing the mode for console command but I'm too lazy.

(sorry bad english)

There is no cure for frostbite. I got this experience as well early on my old 500 days run.
Frostbite happens when you have your feet/ hands or head not covered by clothing. Also, 100% wet clothing or frozen clothing has 0% protection, it's the same as not wearing any.
That's what happened o me and probably what happened to you as well.

I don't know mods well enough but it's probably your best bet if you want to cure this uncurable affliction.
Otherwise, it's not a death sentence and you can still complete all the achievement with this affliction on as I did.

Yeah! I saw that there is no cure, I will like if they add one, I hate permanent things.
Probably it's because my gloves were frozen but I saw that my temperature was alright so when I went to sleep I woke up with the frostbite.

I think it would be nice that maybe when you are sleeping/cutting outside branch/fishing, the game will make you automatically stop what you're doing so you can prevent.
For example when you are reading the book and you become thirsty it stops you, so why can't be like that even in other things?

Anyway, I'm on 86 days now, Iìll survive as I can, when I die I'll probably unistall the game and play other games, maybe I'll check in the next 5 years as I done this time ahah!

Thanks for the response

I looked it up and its a long and complicated process to treat frostbite. Results will depend on its severity and may or may not be successful. Depending on complications it could lead to amputation or even death.
So no magic cure by default. Although I guess that's not true anymore, what with the 'cheat death' option and all.

Frostbite occurs in a different way, as it is a point affliction, than hypothermia, a whole body affliction.

When one gets frostbite RISK that means that the unprotected (which includes frozen coverings) extremity no longer benefits from whole body warmth known as Feels Like Temperature and must be managed as a separate action. It is necessary to get a covering or thaw a frozen covering to reduce frostbite risk and it is not a one and one deal for it needs to be monitored to be sure that the risk is going down and further action taken if warranted.

As a permanent affliction it warrants the extra attention for once one gets the frostbite affliction there is no going back.

I see what you talking about, I just dislike that happened to me while I was sleeping and didn't interrupted to at least give me a chance to help with that

Yes i got Frostbite on day 125 ! think. Now on day 460 Loper I would think you would either cure it or overcome the affliction if you survive long enough with it. I've seen peeps do alot of amazing things missing digits :)

It has been long time that there is not a single Frostbite UI warning.

Only Hypothermia and a hint to warn you about that. This game likes to surprise people.

It has been a part of the game that when you go to sleep you are committed to that act until you reach the time limit you specified or you have become fully rested (barring the effects of
Insomnia getting you up, if you have that affliction). It is up to the player/character to review their state and take any possible corrective actions before they "go to sleep". Otherwise they're just taking their chances of an adverse outcome.

There is no "guardian angel" in the game (i.e. no hand holding) to warn the player if they are doing something that may adversely affect them (other than the "do you want to eat that raw meat" warning when using the radial menu).

Good luck on your run.

Thanks Iwasa for the replay,
It was an unlucky moment, I was at Desolation Point and running from a Bear to my igloo, the weather was calm and sunny and I thought I could rest because my sleep was on red.

It's probably a personal fact that I can't stand that I have a permanent affliction, it's something that make me loose interest in the game.

Did some research and if you enable the dev console with a mod, there is indeed a command to cure frostbite. Use at your own risk.

Yeah Dane, as I wrote before, I'm too lazy to do that ahah

Then kill your character and use the 'cheat death' option. Should be easy enough. Or start again.
