So... Quonset Garage is the best base in the game now? ^_^
With all the benefits it had before the update, such as being in a region with a very mild climate, which is EXTREMELY easy to navigate, having access to unlimited coal from the nearby mines and longest stretch of ice for beach combing...

Now it's also the closest base camp to the Trader!

But the best part of the update is.... The deer have replaced the wolves as the residents of the settlement... Nature is healing... Thank you, Hinterland...

I would make base there... but I like to see outside and have a nice view.
Mindful Cabin placed in CH, with the Fallen Lighthouse from BI for bigger cooking sessions, in direct neighborhood of Airfield and Prison would be my dream. can't have it all. ^^

This must be the best part then, the garage looks like a great base for its size and contents, but I just couldn’t have considered it a great base because of the wolves and bear. I know lots of players of all difficulties consider it and many other bases with nearby hostile wildlife good and worth it, but having hostile wildlife right at your doorstep is a dealbreaker for me. I can’t imagine having to sneak in and out of your base every single time you leave it, especially if you come back encumbered with loot, especially if you’re coming back with a ton of meat and stuff. It must be very taxing on the amount of time it takes to sneak through, or the amount of materiel expended like flares and stuff, it doesn’t seem worth it to me.

If everything said is true, something is probably off and it’s going to get patched or something tbh, I don’t think any base in the game is meant to be too OP and it probably isn’t going to last.
From my understanding of it tho, it won't always be deer there tho? It's no longer permanent spawn locations, but a random rotation of critters? Sure might be deer now, might wake up one day tho and its CougarBearMoose...

Still, its also a lot of food to come to your yard.

That said, just about anywhere can do now, since you can pack up a vice and set up shop elsewhere now too. Why not Misantrhope's or Jackrabbit Islands?

Honestly, even in Stalker, the wolves were never much of an issue at the QGS- for me it was the dang Moose. Come out the door knowing you killed all the wolves earlier and suddenly Bullwinkle is there waiting to tap dance on your torso.I knew about the wolves being around it, but the Moose was more random- you never knew when it would spawn.

Also I just checked out the Garage — there are no wolves right outside the door (at the time at least) so you don’t get ambushed literally immediately anymore, at least it seems. But there ARE wolves in the area quite close still, like behind the garage behind the snow mound where the road use to be, there was one. Which probably is in smell range if you have any kind of meat. So it is not 100% safe, just not right there in your face anymore it seems?

Wasn’t there long, just an initial assessment.

There’s no fireplace at either I am pretty sure, right? Jackrabbit island is nice and safe, but you can’t even cook anything inside, and outside of course is prone to wind.
Huh, it is few years but making base at QGS was the worst decision - the wolves wer exrtremely plentiful, evne if killed still new packs migrated around... Never again.

But apaprently idk how are now the changes with wildlife - but it is RNG I guess?
