I find Stalker has far too much loot for my taste, and the other difficulty levels... the problem is even bigger there, in my opinion. There’s so much loot that it doesn’t feel like "survival" to me. :)
Misery was a nice change of pace, but after 100 days, with full gear, 90% health, and so much food stockpiled that it’s no longer a real "problem," it just gets boring and feels "finished."
That could be worth revisiting with the current patch, since the cougar is back now!
Custom is also an option, but I’d really like "finer" settings for loot availability and similar features.
After 700 hours and 7 years I can say I am a casual player. I've made to day 94 once early on but that was forever and a day ago.
I usually die on day 2 or 3. I get eaten by avoiding wolves. I never freeze to death even when I basically try to freeze to death.
I wish we had a Voyageur difficulty with the cold weather challenge of Stalker or Interloper.
I used to use a mod to enable feats in custom mode back in the day, but it gets a hassle re-installing and managing that and also the personality conflict R had with the competent programmers doing work for free and leaving their code on GitHub for him was tiresome.
Untill i get all badges ill stay on voyager. After that ill try interloper custom with 4x time.. thats only thing i will change.
Curently i play voyager simply because weather is not stoping me to explore for most of the day. I use bow most of the time to practice (on PS5).
On loper when its worm afternoon i want use most of that time, so thats is reason i want 4x change in custom settings.
But im far from that.
Yeah I jive with that. I had several geared up interloper characters before the save reset. I haven't felt like I have had the time and motivation to start the process over again. I just wanted to experience the new regions and you can "get ready" in just a few hours on stalker which is nice.
I get the appeal for interloper in finding all the essential tools, forging, and then crafting essential clothing as the world gets colder. However, once you've done it a few times its just not as fun to spend the few dozen hours doing it. I think what gets me is the crazy amount of walking to loot places. And also waiting for bad weather to pass or for the optimal time of day. It can be kind of slow. I wish I could skip that beginning part and just experience more mid to late game interloper.
With all that said, I'm sure I'll jump back into a new run eventually
Also, custom Loper with guns and scurvy off from time to time. Just to see what's available.
And as for Misery, it just seems.. "a bit much".
