Should I be sprinting everywhere?
When travelling around, how bad is it to be sprinting everywhere?
I end up sprinting a decent amount when exploring but im not sure if its worth it or not due to it draining some stats more compared to walking.
is the stat drain in the end equal as well if say I walked to a structure vs sprinting there? or is walking technically the better play.

You burn extra calories but eventually you'll get the Free Runner feat. which reduces calorie burn by 25% when sprinting.

Sprinting will always use more fatigue. It really depends on what you're doing during your day to decide if you should sprint or walk it out. Just trying to fish for the day? Sprinting to the fishing hut is probably worth it to save more day time and catch more. Sprinting to a rope climb, probably not a good idea because you want all your fatigue. Keep in mind your fatigue drains based off of the weight you're carrying too. So if you have a heavy load, you will fatigue faster. Combine that with sprinting too, you're going to be a sleepy guy / gal.

Usually no, you should not.
But if you're cold and are far from being tired, then you'd better run a little to the next warm location.
Also, you should keep a little endurance in case you want to run away from a wolf (if it charges you, it's too late, but if it walks toward you and you're not encumbered you may manage to lose it)
If you have to sprint, sprint while you are cold or getting colder fast and walk when getting warm, or when under windproof cover.

It's a judgement call, but more often than not the answer is no. Sprinting burns calories much faster, so it's better to save those calories. The best times to sprint are 1) to avoid excessive cold damage (I often sprint at the beginning of an interloper of deadman run) or 2) to avoid wildlife attacks. The only other reason I can think of would be if you want to burn through your fatigue quicker in order to get a full night's sleep.

Something that really helps to curb the desire to sprint all the time is using the auto-walk feature. Not having to hold down a button to advance constantly does wonders for your patience.

if youre playing above interloper calories shouldnt be a problem, but still, fatigue drains insanely fast

It is a matter of trade-offs.

Running uses up fatigue (separate from the sprint meter) faster than walking. You get a certain distance faster at the cost of being tired sooner. When the sprint meter is exhausted it takes time to recharge.

You have to work out your own assessment of the trade-offs and then live with them.

I don't use auto-walk and occasionally get so irritated at the wind slowing me down I would run a bit but otherwise I just walk.

Good luck.

depends on the circumstances. if it's nice and warm outside then waking is always better as you don't drain your fatigue and calories as fast and it's safer in case you stumble into any wolves or bears since sprinting causes them to charge at you first and ask questions later.

however if it's freezing outside i prefer to just run as fast as i can and just take a 1 hour nap once i reach my destination. you get about the same result but without the extremely heavy condition loss from freezing
I play on Custom with Stalker as a base (just to tick down the wolf spawn setting lol), and I definitely need to try auto-walk after reading this thread.
My sprint strategy is that I generally only use it to close the distance to a safe spot during bad weather/wildlife threats, to escape hostile wildlife, or every now and then to rush down the PV farmhouse stairs cause I like going nyoom and it's a relatively small location compared to the outdoor maps.

I would not, however, go nyoom in such a way if I were planning a trip to the Timberwolf summit, for example, or if I were walking to my fishing hut with full stats on a bright clear day with no wolves/bears/moose/cougars around. If I encounter one, then I flee at top speed and resume solemnly trudging from a safe distance.

As others have said, it's basically a personal trade-off assessment. One thing to keep in mind is how much food you have/can quickly get your hands on, as you might not be able to eat the extra calories you burn back up fast enough to keep Well Fed up or something.
