How long to melt/boil water?
How long does it take to melt 1L of water and how long does it take to boil it? I never know if I have enough remaining fire time left or not.

Melting 1l = ~15min + additional ~15min to boil ... might also depend on how hot the Fire is etc ...

That 15min is for what fire temperature?

Honestly never measured the temperature ... but it's certainly not a huge difference ... I dunno maybe you can save 1min if the Fire is burning hotter (but not sure if that's really the case, anyway)
-> Point being it doesn't really matter ... it's always approximately 15min

90F seems to be my average on a normal fire. I do not think temp matters at all. (AS LONG as it is a full fire and not embers. Using the pills to clean the water seems to be faster then boiling it.

fire temperature does not matter. it takes exactly 20 minutes to melt 1L of snow and 10 minutes to boil it. so you can produce 2L of boiled water per hour.

Three sticks.

From embers it takes:
Two sticks to melt 0.5L.
One stick to boil it.

- or something like that. You can finish melting on embers, but not boiling - that kills the fire, and the water remains contaminated.

Sometimes the only way to survive is one stick at a time. May as well make some water while you're at it.

Yeh, 30m per 1L melt+boil, as people have said.

20 minutes to melt, 10 minutes to boil, then you get 1 liter drinkable water. 2L per hour.
The minimum amount is 0.5L, so you need fuel for at least 15 minutes.
A stick can burn for 7 minutes.
Cedar for 60 minutes.
Fir for 90 minutes.
Making a fire will cost 3~5 minutes' fuel, depends on the method, don't forget this.

Just melt-boil 5LT ... you always need 2.5 hours ...

Yes, this should be changed.

To get 1 liter (kg) of snow from -20 °C to 10 °C needs around 460 KJ , and then warm up close to 100 °C ca. 380 KJ (no boiling, boiling needs an additional amount of energy)
So i think the both times should be the same but depending on the firetemperature.

Yeah but snow, unlike water or ice, is an insulator thanks to all the trapped air. So while the energy to melt the water part is equivalent to ice, you must also heat the air inside and the process happens slower than for ice and with poorer efficency.

I support realism.
- Make all actions in real time. (melt, boil, cook, repair and craft)
- Insomnia at nights (seriously, the character sleeps like robot)
- Find bottles and container for all your water
- Be able to take a shower, wash clothes and backpack ("yay I have survived for 200 days!" - now, SNIFF YOUR BACKPACK xD)
- Be able to cure hemorrhoid

DEAL WITH IT :B1:

Isn't your life enough reality?

What if I don't have a life?
Seriously, don't you get that I'm just joking? :D
