Can we get an option to craft a hatchet?

Seems like the only way I can make anything useful is if i get a hatchet. I'm 3 hours in and still no hatchet anywhere. Bad enough I can only make anything on a tool bench. I've been everywhere and not a single hatchet anywhere.

There is an option ... go to "Desolation Point" - look for the Forge/Furnace ... add Coal ... = craft Improvised Hatchet / Knife ...

I don't know what a desolation point is, can I do this at any furnace like in the farm house?

"Desolation Point" is an Area / Map (just like "Pleasant Valley") and no ... it's an old Ship Furnace / Forge and it doesn't work on any other "Furnace", "Workbench" etc ... and the only map that has one is "Desolation Point" ... so you'd have to go there first ...

ya that's stupid if you have to actually find one. I've been to the dam, the two farms, the little cabin, I've gone through tool boxes, I've gotten like 5 hunting knives, searched dozens of bodies and no hatchet.

Uhm what are you talking about ?
1. Having to find an Hatchet ? Still No ... again just go to the Forge in "Desolation Point" ...

That's how it goes sometimes, there always seems to be something you can't find. I remember once I found the rifle 2 minutes in but then could never find any damn bullets. There has to be at least one somewhere in the zone so just keep looking.

I know I had a couple of runs that were in the 20 plus day range before I found a hatchet and one that I didn't find a hatchet until after I had visited DP and crafted one-like Telzen posted, that's how it goes sometimes

Which map are you currently playing? On some maps (like PV) it's not so easy to find a hatchet. Hatchets have some tricky spawning points, they are sometimes stuck in tree stumps or in beams in old barn buildings. Often hard to see.

Bad luck men... but keep searching, there is a bunch of places to find a hatchet... is worst when you try to find the rifle... it took me 70 days trough 4 maps to find one... just keep searching

Stuff also hides behind wooden crates that you can't see until you break them down. Bullets are a good example of this.

Often, but not always, hatchets surface in places you would hope to find them--next to a dead forester, in a hunting blind, or behind a cabin. But with every new game, the world is alive and changes the opportunities it presents to us. We have to roll with the punches.

And yes, you can always manufacture one for yourself at the forge in Desolation Point.

Yeah... and it was more sadistic when the spawn of the rifle, was in a place i had already checked... The Dam in ML, the big engine machine under one of the stairs... checked in the day 20... rechecked in the day 70
