I'd say ... up to three days ... especially in PV ...

Ha - you can hear any comment, but in the end, it will last so long, as it will last. My longest storm was ~ 3 days, with a few 1-2hours "holes" in it. You get your hopes up for better weather and it strikes again... not sure about it, but in PV you will have the most durable storms. On every other map storms will be less than one day. Mostly....

im currently playing in pilgrim mode, and i've found there's differences in the storms that hit, and i think it affects how long they last? there's some storms that last anywhere from an hour or two to maybe six hours, and there's some that last and entire day and night. i think the more serious ones are counted as blizzards in ur logbook, the ones that blot out the sky and make it extremely hard to see, those are the ones that last the longest it seems like. maybe this is just me?

It would be nice if there was a more easily noticable way to observe the passing of a storm the way you might in real life. The game isn't long enough to know how long they'll last from experience and we skip through the timeline too much to really notice it picking up or falling off outside. There also isn't much in the way of low-calorie activities to pass the day when you're stuck and low on supplies (if I can stumble desperately through a blinding blizzard for twelve hours before collapsing, I can probably survive indoors for an extra day or two without dying too).

It might help to be able to look out a window once in awhile to see what the weather's doing outside. Listening to the wind doesn't help since it's almost always windy. Not sure what else you could do to plan ahead for storms other than to improve options for waiting to be more efficient.

My coping mechanish is to keep well fed and hydrated and sleep in 1 hour increments during a blizzard-once I've done any house keeping chores like mending and crafting it's all that is left to do til the storms ends.

I'm sitting in the signal hill building waiting for a blizzard to pass, it's been 3 days so far, I can hear the wind so I know when it dies down, wish I knew that PV had more storms before I moved here...

The name is a little misleading isn't it.

Weather is definitely a large threat in TLD. If you're stuck indoors, try to make use of the time by crafting, repairing, stockpiling some extra water / cooked meat, or even breaking down stuff for materials (or to clean up if the location is your main base and you like things tidy like me!). Just try to keep your fatigue in check if you feel like there may be some time left in the day for going outdoors after the storm passes.

In terms of weather, I'd definitely agree that PV and TM have the worst patterns. Though PV farmstead (or signal hill if bear hunting / firewood collecting is your thing) is a great spot for long-term survival.

Oh I love PV, 3.5 day long blizzard finally ends, I go out for 4 hours and then I wake up the next day to another blizzard...

I went to TWM once and got to the plane but forgot my hacksaw, on starter gear, i was really lucky i guess, that was another life. do you know which map has the nicest weather? I'm liking PV as the supplies are endless (still need a magnifying glass) and I have a good base set up on the radio hill, but the storms are a real pain...
