Please Tell me how to forage wood.

I have watch youtube videos on the game and decided to buy, but now I can even harvest wood.
How do you harvest wood outside?

Gather sticks until you find a hatchet, then chop up the limbs that are scattered around on the ground when you do have one. Or you can break down certain pieces of furniture indoors for reclaimed wood.

I walk outside and it does not give me the option to forge for wood, like it shows on the videos.

You are watching old videos. They took away the option to forage like that ages ago. Now you need to find limbs lying around on the ground and chop them up for firewood. Just click on them to harvest it.

Yeah, you gotta wander the woods looking for sticks, branches, and logs you can harvest. Sticks and branches you can just break up with your bare hands but you'll need a hatchet for the bigger and more valuable logs. Alternatively, you can break up furnature, crates, boxes and such in buildings to produce Reclaimed Wood.

To use a hatchet just walk up to a log on the ground and click Harvest. It will then be chopped up in to a few logs of firewood and maybe some tinder. They will be laying on the ground where the log used to be and you just pick them up. Same thing with any furnature you break up for reclaimed wood.

Keep your eyes peeled when you are exploring, since sometimes useable firewood will just be laying around (usually in or near buildings or on coastlines like Desolation Point).

Watch your condition-if you are in a body heat deficit chopping wood can put you in a hurt-the shortest harvest wood is 45 minutes and you can be seriously chilled in that amount of time-I don't waste time harvesting branches-10 minutes for 2 sticks-can usually gather more indivual sticks in that amount of time. The number of hatchet or whetstone should dictate whether you rely on sticks or timber-currently I have 2 hatchets but only one almost depleted whetstone so I pick up sticks
