Can't find gas mask filters

I have a survival run that began when Signal Void launched. After buried echoes came out I decided to explore the new region. I found the gas mask and a lone filter. I haven't found another anywhere and I've searched all over. My understanding was they can be located in old maps as well as the new ones. What gives?

There are plenty in the zone of contamination.
Also you don't really need them if you are light and save your endurance meter for before a gas pocket.
Try to only start wearing thr mask when you have 10 sec left to save on canisters.

Yes, filters are a random loot across the world, probably more common in industrial zones

I'm on my way back to the ZoC so hopefully I can find some. I searched pretty well the first time I was there so I'm not really expecting to find any this trip. I'll have to try the other tips if I'm not lucky. I think this run just didn't update correctly for some reason :(

You can get some while following the Tale. Depending on your difficulty you might find 4 in the cache by the helicopter. Remember to use the blue channel for Tale related stuff which this is.
