When's the next Tales update?
It's been more than 4 months since the last Tales DLC part... What gives?

Words from a wise man. Personally, since they turned my beloved survival games into a hunt-the-thimble adventure game, I care less than I once did. It'd be cool to get the mountain lion in the game, but all my runs end at BR so what happens beyond that matters little, to me.

Still. Finish the **** game already.

:)

Eh, from the Dev Diary "Episode Five is slated for release in late 2024" - now bearing in mind Hinterlands horrendous history of not even being CLOSE with their estimates, I can see it being another year. I don't see "Tales From The Far Side" as it might more accurately be called, as it's comical in it's content, being finished this year.

Originally it was planned for late 2023, I'll never understand how they can misjudge this so much. Of course unexpected problems can accur, but we're talking about absurd delays here.
After all these years, you'd think they'd know what they're capable of by now... and what not.
Smaller dev, biting off more than they can chew. And releasing updates that were less than optimal that needed to be fixed. Incompetence can be tough to factor in to a schedule. I think that they were genuinely working on the premise that all updates would be perfect and the team could just move on to the next thing, rather than having to have the team double-back and fix what they broke. And then fix what they broke while fixing what was broke before. And remember they're a studio that's anti-crunch, so they took their sweet time with all of it. Bottom line, the schedule went out the window and now it's "it's ready when it's ready, we're having tea and donuts and playing scrabble, be patient"

"made without crunch" sort of says it all. They will get to it when they get to it.

That is often the problem in defining what is "soon".

When is the next update going to drop? I need to feed my gaming addiction it's very important, life and death, please hurry!! :steamhappy:
this game is one of the best survival games ever made so im willing to let the devs take what time they need. theyve done a good job so far.

If it is true that they are working on Switch now rather than working on finishing the game that they said that they would do and not delivering this game as late 2024. I will not be buying any new project from them, not even any early access as their reputation is ruined. If they really wanted to have Switch as a part of their platform then they should finish the game then work on next project. If they intend to continue working on TLD after the Episode 5 and complete the Tales and intend to sell any new DLC project, they better finish this project on time. It is one thing to be misjudge the timing of release date but it is other thing if they are working on Switch that caused another delay from that promise to deliver is not.

So will see if they keep their word at end of 2024. They already failed their promise to finish the Tales by 12 months. Kind of sad by not keeping us informed with any update on how they are doing, it has been 4 months so I kind of doubt that it will be the case based on their reputation history.

TLD has been available on Switch for more than 3 years. It's long overdue they get any TFTFT content. Switch should be their number one priority right now. If that was the only platform you owned you would feel even more cheated than the story folk.

Except, you know, for a butt-ton of bugs that will likely never be fixed. :lunar2020hearteyesrabbit:

I have 1,000s of hours in on this game, so it's not like it's stopping me, but it's unprofessional in the extreme, as are a number of this studio's other practices.
ive been playing video games a long time and ive seen a lot of games that are way buggier. tlds bugs just tend to stand out because the game is so immersive normally.

I'm with you there, but I am sort of pissed that there hasn't been any communication on the current delays since December. I hear they are working on Switch port, but that is kind of lame excuse for stopping development on a promised DLC that is already late. I mean let's face it, we are PC players and we don't give a fig about the Switch port. Don't get me wrong, I love the devs and I love the game, but sometimes their rather convoluted and constantly changing way of developing their game is a bit frustrating... :coffeeTLD:
