The DLC is worth buying at full price

I bought it this sale. Totally worth it. I've spent maybe 10 hours so far and haven't even scratched Tales or the new regions. This DLC could easily give you dozens of hours worth of stuff to do.

As someone who wasn't even interested in trying the Tales, I've gotten my moneys worth simply from the other additions (cooking, tool variants, and new gear.) With the features that are still to come, now is probably when it's worth the most.

I bought this game last month and im already at 128 hours. Enjoying every minute of it.

If you enjoy the base game you will get a lot of value for your money with both Wintermute (story mode) and Tales of the far territory (map and items expansion). Ignore the negative reviews, they are almost exclusively from people who bought the survival edition, and then annoyed they had to buy Wintermute on top of that for story mode, when in fact you can just buy The Long Dark and you get Wintermute included.

So just make sure you DON'T buy the survival edition (unless you will never play story mode), because then you need to buy Wintermute on the side if you want to play story mode at some point.

Bugs are indeed a problem sometimes. But to me its a bit silly to give negative reviews for dev time being longer expected, as reviews should be about the game in its current version. It's a bit like giving bad reviews to gta 5, because gta 6 is taking forever to release.

This game will give you 1000's of hours of play if you want it. There are some disgruntled players about Wintermute taking so long to complete but the core players are survival and love everything about this game. DLC is a great edition to the already great game.

I think we have each other confused a bit, as I was also referring to the DLC. Apologies for that. If I understand you correctly, you are simply stating that some of the reviews are criticising the delays, and you think that's reasonable. Whereas I am questioning the validity of those reviews, on top of the ones that complain about the costs. Of course that comes down to opinion, so we'll have to agree to disagree here.

Some people will be frustrated for delays, some people couldn't care less. If you aren't willing to wait several more months for all the content, then the DLC is not for you (yet). But if you're happy with what the DLC is at the moment and can wait for everything else, then it is worth it 100%.

I haven't experienced any bugs or disappointing features. The only issue I see is the delay and it doesn't bother me one bit. So a lot of the current bad reviews will be irrelevant once the DLC is fully released.

One thing that may be very relevant once everything is released is a price change. I know they're not doing the mid-point one to make up for said delays (or at least it seems that way, there was never any official word) but the end one is still likely. So there's a good reason to get it now.

There are a wide variety of reasons why this game, or any game, might get positive or negative reviews. People can read these reviews for themselves and come to their own conclusions. We don't need to "police" the interpretation of these reviews, which is of course subjective.

Let's try to help answer the OP's question. It's entirely fine to say you don't feel the DLC is worth buying because of the delays, or bugs, any other reason. It's also entirely fine to say you feel it is worth buying in spite of those things.

my opinion is no. Im sure Im in the minority but the new maps have out of place gimmicks built into the maps so they're really not that fun to explore. The stories are fun the first time but then are extremely tedious with a ton of back and forth between maps. the cooking stuff, again, was largely unneeded and breaks some of the difficulty balance

Personally, If I could have refunded the dlc, I would have. Its almost like a different game

Have you actually tried? Last I checked Hinterland had put in a request to disregard the usual limits and allow refunds at any time for Tales. If it didn't work I suppose that means that they either have to renew it or chose not to do so at this stage of development unless players persuade them otherwise.

the dlc is in my opinion a 1 time playtrough. to live in there and survive the maps are not that good. to much to walk XD.

worth to buy yes was fun to play one time but not so good as the old maps

If you haven't already purchased it, I would say "Yes!" if you already enjoy Survival Mode and want more stuff to do and places to go.
The new cooking, recipes and new food ingredients add a good deal of variety to the character's diet. The travois is amazing for some things (hauling a ton of wood back to base or getting a big kill back to base), but it has limits and trade offs- which make it interesting and not too OP. It's fun to hunt for weapons variants if you are playing anything besides Interloper or are playing Gunloper in a custom Settings game. And if you want new places to go and die horribly in- the new regions will give you that. They'll also give you a lot more challenge, tons of blizzards and seriously harsh weather in any mode. The first 2 Tales are good- though once you manage to finish them, it all depends on how much you like or want the rewards they give (at the end and along the way with the bunkers).
For $12 USD, (sale price here in the US) what you get already is worth it during this sale, and the last 2 parts are just going to be a bonus for me. I bought it the day Part 1 released, and have zero regrets. The new regions still kick my butt- it will take a while for me to learn the new maps as well as I know the original maps in the base game.
