How to stop a cougar
If a cougar can't 1) crush your skull by biting it, 2) can't cover your mouth and nose with its mouth, 3) can't constrict or tear your throat, or 4) can't disembowel you by clawing you chest and stomach, it will give up and retreat shortly. Use a solid helmet with mouth guard, a thick neck brace, and chest armour (in the real world). I have no idea about the in-game one.

Why would you want a cougar to kiss you ? (animal variant, that is...)

I wonder what happens in a cougar fight if you have 100% protection. You'll be left with afflictions but I bet you'd be alright :coffeeTLD:

I didn't even know there are cougars in game. I'm just starting the game again for the story mode.

Just in case you're confused rhwilson1953 means Part 5 of the Tales dlc not Wintermute. It's coming near the end of this month as long as the devs are on track.

I've never been that worried about them to get all dressed up like that. I have seen people wearing a sidearm on hiking trails, that would be another option.

Sounds kinky. Just saying...

Thread has been moved to the Tales From The Far Territory subforum, as the Cougar will be part of the DLC content and not part of the base game.

Please remember to post in the correct subforum for your topic to avoid confusing other players who may not have played for a while, or who may be new to the game.

Thank You.

One thing that I think people miss is that Cougars will go for the face/head/throat *if* they are attacking from on the ground. But since they can climb (and boy can they climb!) they are also fairly well known for dropping down on the back of larger prey animals that might be able to injure them with antlers and hooves- and they clamp onto the back of the neck. They have incredible bite pressure, If they can sever the spine and paralyze their prey, they can then finish it off without risk of being trampled, or kicked, or speared by an antler.

I am still expecting Cougar to drop down on the character from a rock formation or tree *from behind*, going for the back of the neck, and ground attacks might only happen if we find the den and it's inside (we are on even ground with it) or if we disturb it while it is on the ground eating or dragging an animal it killed.

We'll see how they handled this new predator the first time we die to one.

Good info. My hope is that it won't be a re-skinned wolf. I mean, how terrifying is a sky predator with four clawed limbs and a killing bite? Months ago when I first heard about them, I thought they were already in game, so I was staying away from trees and cliffs and wondering about the one I didn't anticipate.
