Back to Miner's Folly?
You have to climb to the rim above the Gold Mine - the same climb down that got you to the Gold Mine location - or leave the mine from the rear exit and find the rope climb back up to the rim level.
Back to Angler's Den cabin?
From the rear exit you can go down to a lower shelf (for me [Pilgrim] there would be a campfire site there), cross the only path along the cliff to another point to climb down and end up on a lower level that can allow you to get to Angler's Den cabin.
Be advised that once you leave the Gold Mine via the rear exit, it quickly becomes one-way i.e. you can't get back to the Mine to re-enter it. No multiple trips to fetch things you want except by going back to the front entrance to the mine.
I don't GOAT my way down slopes so the way down from the falls at the Gold Mine basin is well beyond me if it is at all possible.
Or maybe not. Well, for now I have a ton of supplies up here, so leaving them all behind seems a little wasteful. Although I got the backpack and snowshoes up here, so I shouldn't complain.
The whole point of the mine is getting those items. And they're not snowshoes :p
Now you can GTFO. The area with the entrance to the mine is small and has nothing except some rabbits. Just a safe place to hang out for a bit. You can return there and make the long climb up, or you can head out the back and climb up or down.
If you go down, there's a pretty easy route to Timberwolf Mountain, which will be easier to summit with your new goodies.
But the map is great. With the ability to navigate the area, I've found tons of stuff, and am still alive.
I've every respect for those who want it to be as hard as humanly possible. I am not, myself, a subscriber to that point of view however =D
