Yet only a (very small) percentage of the time. The percentage "seems" to increase if you're carrying a lit torch or flare at the same time.
I don't want to create any "urban legend" so please note that it is only speculations. But it seems to me that wolves are scared more often when my wolf skin coat is a bit worn (though it never went lower that 55% condition or so). Did you notice the same thing? (I'm playing in stalker).
i also have played on stalker for quite a while now, but never noticed any correlation.. but to be honest i havent paid much attention to the "worn-factor" yet :)
