Hunting Wolves... Pilgrim Mode

I've looked around and I couldn't see any other discussion of this nature. Some of you may think I'm a bit crazy haha. But does anyone know an effecient way of hunting wolves in pilgrim mode? I really want the craftable items which require wolf pelts, but as you can imagine all the wolves do is run away from me before I can get the shot in. Like in real life it seems to me they can sense you quicker than the deer. I just wondered if anyone had perfected the technique?

I've got the use of a rifle down, however using a bow I am not so good at haha. I'm still trying to work out the mechanics of that one. I have tried sneaking up on a wolf whilst they're eating a deer, however this doesn't seem very good for securing the wolf. The wolf spots me and runs away, it's good because I get the deer, but I so need that wolf pelt.

Drop a torch or flare when the wolf spots you , it should stop . Line up the bow shot and fire away . If you want to practice there is a archery target at the Pleasant Vally Out Buildings :)

Crouch and sneak up behind them. The BEST way I've found is herd a deer toward them or a wolf toward a deer. While the wolf is eating the deer, get behind it. It'll make shooting it in a vital place a little more difficult but you can get a LOT closer to it before it'll run. I stood right in one's face once before it ran away, with me wondering if the wolf was broken, haha. Besides, doing it this way means two meals for the price of one since you can steal the deer he was eating, too!

Get quite close in crouch at an angle behind it, then stand and shoot. It took me a lot of practice to get the right angle, distance, to get the shot off quickly (you aim low, about at his legs before standing so no need to re-aim when standing as the aim goes up to his body when you stand, then can shoot straight away before he moves), and also get the hit every time. But with practice, got to be pretty routine, and confident doing it in voyageur now too (where if you miss they attack).

There is a wolf stuck in a cave in DP that is easy to kill. Other then that, use crouch to get a better shots and follow its blood trail.

That won't work. He's playing in Pilgrim mode. The wolves run away from you in Pilgrim mode.

There are two things he can try. The first is to shoot the wolf from farther away while it is feeding. The second is to herd the wolf into a barrier in the hopes it will turn around and run towards him, much like deers do in all modes of difficulty, and shot it as it gets closer.

I'm female... also I have to say I have no problems hunting deer, I crouch until I'm real close then use the rifle and aim for the neck. It works for me everytime. However wolves I have not had as much luck. I will try the eating deer tactic again by the sounds of it I wasn't doing it right last time, and I'll try some of the other suggestions thanks guys.

There's a wolf in a cave in DP ? I read once before that someone met fluffy's brother in that cave (one with the bones in), but a few runs now and no wolf there. Was I just lucky ? Can imagine it would be fun chasing him around in pilgrim - but voyageur and stalker it would be Fluffy Part Deux.

It is funny as it tries to run but there is nowhere to go, might not spawn at First or at all but in my most recent run on easy it was there.

Which cave is it ? I know of three, but never met her yet.

There is only 2 caves in DP, One is the bear cave and is at road level, the other is Sadies and it is at sealevel. You may need to go up the ramp to trigger her to spawn, good luck.
