Can be useful in regions like Hushed River Valley where there are not many containers (only backpacks and corpses).
+ I think you get a marker on the map.
That said, I don't use them myself but for the OCD survivor it might trigger a little organizational dopamine here and there.
Very nifty to have your pile of stick inside a pile of rocks.
Also, the pile of rocks looks nice as a marker or something. It makes a statement, like, "I was here" and "I made this pile of rocks" and "I can store a large quantity of sticks and stuffs".

now i get it.... i think this is the reason why i can not longer place rockcaches in the outside part of a cave... because of such things like blocking cave entraces.
