Forlorn Muskeg (radio tower question).

Ok so I found out small radio tower (that you have to repair) near the big one.
Brought the materials. Fixed it. Turned it on. Nothing happened.
Being the big brain I came back during the aurora suggesting it'll spark the thing. Nothing happened. And you can't turn it off now.
What exactly they do and how can I activate it? Cause after all that work I was a bit frustrated that even my character haven't said anything about what to expect from that thing.

p.s. I'm playing from time to time. Not really lurcking the game forums about the lore, achievements etc. And I'm OK with spoilers if that's the thing. Sorry if it's a dumb question.

It's to do with the Tales From The Far Territory dlc, not gonna spoil much else. Just try to make your way to the airfield, you have to find something there.

I assume he found it and repair it, but didn't actually go to Airfield and didn't start the tales. That's why nothing happens.

Yeah I started my journey from the "broken railroad" (or whatever it's called) and want to explore from left to right location after location (some I familiar with but most I haven't seen at all).
Thanks again for all the answers! Guess at some point I'll return to those towers but now I'm just chillin (literally) exploring the swamp.

I'm familiar with the Aurora thing but I believe I haven't seen or hear about glimmering for at all (one more thing to be exited about).
The dang switch is the thing that got me frustrated the most. Cause I fixed everything, then came during Aurora with the switch turned on and got nothing. =))
At least they didn't force me to carry the battery across the swamp.

If you have the DLC and are wanting to play the Signal Void Challenge, a handheld radio is using the repaired signal towers to locate things. You can pick up the handheld radio in the Forgotten Airfield Control Tower. I don't know if the handheld radio is available if you don't have the DLC though.

I had similar experience in FM. I finished fixing the antenna right in the beginning of an aurora and it didn't start to work. Problem was that the antenna doesn't start to work right at the aurora beginning, it takes some time. My experience is about one in-game hour from first aurora effect to activation, but it's not accurate.
It's based on observations on three aurora beginning, that not much.
