30 days into contaminated zone... yo, i was thriving, i'd full on looted the mine, killed maybe 30 ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up wolves, poisoned wolf Armageddon yo. had deer meet for days and so I dared. I'd searched the hell out of the mines and the issue was like this: i need a gas mask. I know this. But where is the foreman key, because I'm pretty sure there's one in the foreman's cabin. None of these assumption are weird, I don't think. The thing I did not do was look ALL OVER THE FECKIN MAP, or for that matter on googles to solve this problem. I died looking in the last place... Which I to be fair, knew would kill me. Yo, this is not great game design.

You don't need to search the whole map for the mask...just pick the highest building you can find...enter it and go as high as you can... ;-)

The game does not make you work at all for the gas mask, which is the OP's issue. Basic exploration of the most obvious location(s) will quickly provide you with the gas mask. That is not content that is locked to Buried Echos.

Yep. Found the mask fairly quickly on my first visit to ZoC. Plenty of canisters around too. Does not need Buried Echoes at all.

i have the same issue,spent 3 hours searching the mine for the foreman key. because i was sure i explored the mine completely i gave up and googled it. turns out its not in the mine(which is dumb because the other 2 keys are in the mine) and on top of that you cant even get the foreman key without finishing the bunker quest first.

You need to complete Signal Void then find the first buried cache. Its totally worth the effort as well even on Interloper, you get a nice prize for completion. It must be OP on lower levels.

Yes, but the OP was asking about the gas mask which does not need any key at all to find. Or Signal Void completion.
